I don't think Toys R Us in Surrey Central was very competitive. We have two young children and the only time we would buy from them is if they happened to have a sale and other stores around didn't. The reality is Walmart has done a lot to take over the Toy market (Surrey Central mall & Guildford) and for games and electronics you have Best Buy in Surrey Central mall. I mean the US company closed all stores and is effectively gone, and Canada was bankrupt too though they are trying to 're-imagine' themselves.

I just don't think they could compete in Surrey Central.

No. I don't think we know what phase 2 actually will be as the developer already said that with the acquisition of the other property across the street they are reimagining the entire development. At least that's what it read like a few months ago now.

So the Toys R Us site and Dollarama were not part of the 7 phases? but will now become part of the overall project? A little confused.

Hopefully this will lead to office towers closer to KGB instead of condos.

Most of the TRU buildings are totally gone now. Just that last little corner left, and I don't think it's long for this world.

As I mentioned a few months ago, at this rate it'll likely be completed before phase 2 even breaks ground.
