Tyler Seguin
Blake Wheeler
Dougie Hamilton.

And they basically have nothing to show for any of those trades. It seems like the only team they actually trade well with is Toronto.
Then a bit after trading Hamilton, they had THREE consecutive 1st round picks. THey made their 3 picks and the the next 3 players chosen were Barzal, Connor, and Chabot. It's amazing how they are still a good contending team despite all the squandered assets.

I can’t see Todd McLellen surviving the season. Oilers are playing Dallas Eakins style garbage hockey.

In fairness one of those picks was Jake DeBrusk who has done decent enough. It is really hard to fault their drafting when they got Pastrnak late in the 1st round, he would arguably go 1st overall in a re-draft.

Calgary didn't have a great game against the Sharks last night, but they also got pretty badly fucked by the refs in the 3rd period which didn't help matters. The Sharks pretty much got away with murder in the last 10 minutes.

Jets with 2 convincing wins on the weekend. Looks like they are starting to play to their potential.

It's the coach's fault again. The Oilers should be relegated the AHL.

Last game vs. the Devils was the *first* time this season, since the first game of the season, that the jets have played a solid 60 mins and looked like the dominant team from last year

Gave me hope, because I have been really worried with the team's poor showings against Dallas, Toronto (twice!), Edmonton

Which is sad, because McLellan is a good coach

Oilers have a lot of talent but the problems go deep and are not going to be fixed with coaching changes alone

My money would be on Quenneville going to Seattle.

If he is still interested in coaching he probably doesn't want to wait. Not to mention it's highly unlikely a second expansion team is anywhere near as complete out-of-the-gate as Vegas was.

That's hard to say. The NHL has already stated the rules will be the same for Seattle. If nothing else, the new team will have one more player than Vegas did.

What won't be the same is the behaviour of the other 31 GMs and how they will try to incentivize Seattle for taking on 'bad' contracts.

That's the point. A huge part of Vegas's success was the surprise factor. They essentially created a whole forward group of fringe top 6 players and out-depth'd other teams.

The rules are still favourable and a good gm should be able to take advantage , but I doubt they're going to be able to find the crazy value that Vegas got out of guys like Fleury, Marchessault, Karlsson, etc.

Would expect teams to be much more willing to part with future picks this time around and have Seattle be a true built-through-the-draft team 2-3 years in.

Looking forward to going to see the Habs tonight. This will be a telling game about the Oilers.

Seattle is still a few years out, they haven't even started the renos on Key Arena as far as I know.

It's going to be sad times in Edmonton when Koskinen gets lit up tonight.

Can McDavid play goal?

Yes, they wanted to be in the league for 2020-21, but considering the renos haven't starting and it will be an essential gutting of everything within the interior of the Key Arena along with digging down an additional 15 - 20 feet, it will likely be an additional year before it is completed.

So right after the lockout, then.
