Not clear EXACTLY what it is, but it looks like a cafe or some other retail feature? The shape extends to the roof of the building... I haven't found plans that might shed more light on it yet.

you are correct. it is slated to be an all glass enclosure for a café. I believe this is still the plan

Doyle block 2017-7-16 by DwN~toWN Halifax, on Flick

Nice to see construction is progressing at a quick pace on this one.
On the right of the photo facing Spring Garden Road is the beginning of an interesting break in the facade that starts on the 2nd floor and extends to the 7th floor.

They do seem low, but then again the building is fairly long and that gives the impression that the ceilings are lower.

I am still not happy about what was torn down for this one, but it adds to the view down Queen Street:



Imagine how much better the area might have been if the old buildings were preserved and the Doyle block went in behind the library.
