People going here aren’t going to take a MARTA bus. This is better than a sea of parking.

Thanks for posting, seriously. I don't want to be one of the Debbie Downers.

But, does anyone think this looks good?

But at least they are working toward a camouflage of the parking deck. I just hope they do all 4 sides, because it will be many years before we can expect something to be built next to it.

This should have been sold to a developer who would implement a denser development with more units and who would have paid much more for the site considering the ROU.

If Brock Built sold all 151 units at $220k, their gross income would be $33million. Even if construction costs are high, the developer is making out like a bandit here.

Looks awfully similar to the Emory deck being praised 1 month ago here that everyone was so proud. A parking deck is a parking deck is a parking deck.

41 acres and the tax assessor appraised it at $28 million last year. Somehow it dropped below $2mil for this year. Curiouser and curiouser...

Ummm remember that a part of the "sweetheart" deal that Integral had with AHA includes AHA sharing the profits while assuming none of the development risk or responsibility. I wouldn't waste 2 seconds getting worked up over this without having any knowledge of what kind deal Brock has with AHA.

I do that agree that the density is disappointing. It seems like an incredible waste and in the long run, will have a negative impact on affordability.

Another follow the money deal? Almost too good to be true. Sounds like Gwinnett.

Things went swimmingly with Integral, didn’t it? /s the city wound up suing because it was inept and provided a deal too sweet for Integral and not good enough for the city.

Considering what deal if any between Brock & AHA is not public information is exactly why people should be outraged. All we know right now is AHA sold way too much land, way below market value, for way too little housing, which will have way too much impact on the CoA in the long run.

AHA should be enabling communities for everyone, not SFH enclave neighborhoods for a select few while lining the pockets of developers.

Is the parking lot at the Works the structure currently going up in the way back of the lot? I pass the Works everyday and only noticed it yesterday. It is barely visible from Chattahoochee.

Looks like it. The other parking garage seems bigger.

Someone on Curbed found this pdf of the a presentation depicting potential development on the Westside. There's a lot to digest in this.

As someone pointed out there's an existing Kroger just a few blocks from the 17th & Northside site - 1715 Howell Mill. But Kroger already purchased the land parcel a couple years ago for 10+ million.

There are 3 Publix in a shorter distance between Atlantic Station, Spring St, and the North Ave location. And a 4th one north on PCM.

Maybe Kroger just isn't in it to win it.

IMHO, Kroger is what you would get if Winn-Dixie, A&P, and Piggly Wiggly had a threesome and somebody got pregnant.

Housing boom could transform west Atlanta, add over 2,000 residential units

This is the ABC article on the presentation above.

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/..._news_headline

Quote:
A development wave on the western side of Atlanta could produce hundreds of millions in new investment and bring over 2,000 residential units to long-neglected Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway.

New details about the array of projects, which could take more than a decade to develop, are contained in a presentation to potential equity partners. The projects span neighborhoods including Bankhead, English Avenue, Grove Park, Almond Park and West Highlands.
