Yikes this is sad. Good infographic to hit home. Hopefully the HIAA has some sort of contingency fund with all the airport fees they have taken in over the years.

Effective August 9, 2021, international flights carrying passengers will be permitted to land at the following five additional Canadian airports:

Halifax Stanfield International Airport;
Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport;
Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport;
Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport; and
Edmonton International Airport.

I seen that Unites and Air Canada express added Unîted States service for next year and hope Delta Airlines comes back they are my preferred carrier.

Halifax - Frankfurt non-stop flights return early September:

Condor Airlines to resume flights between Halifax and Germany
The airline will be flying into Halifax from Frankfurt twice a week

Nova Scotians will soon once again have a direct flight option to Europe.

When international travel resumes on Sept. 7, Condor Airlines will be flying into Halifax from Frankfurt on Mondays and Thursdays.

It will also offer a Frankfurt to Toronto route on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

"Our guests have waited a long time to be able to travel across the big pond to North America again," said the company's CEO Ralf Teckentrup in a news release. "Now Canada has invited all North America fans who are fully vaccinated to join them again."

"Within a few hours, we received so many requests for Condor flights that we decided at short notice to offer five connections per week from Frankfurt to Canada starting in September."

Fully immunized Americans and permanent residents can come into the country starting Aug. 9. As of that date, international passenger flights will once again be allowed to land at Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

Canada plans to allow other fully immunized international travellers who meet any specific entry requirements in starting Sept. 7.

No idea how long this page has been up, but it looks like they're planning to build all the way out to the highway. I wish they'd include a Montreal-style park for airplane enthusiasts.

^Looks like the presentation was earlier today.

I'd seen some plans for the commercial area before, however the potential 'pier' terminal extensions are intriguing, even if 10+ years out. In the meantime, I just hope they'll finish the glazing on the parking garage, haha.

American Airlines 2022 expansion coming back to Halifax in a big way:

Starting June:

American Airlines A319 Mainline service Daily to Philadelphia (PHL).

American Airlines (American Eagle E175) weekly service to Boston (BOS)

American Airlines (American Eagle E175) weekly service to Washington (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport DCA)

Also Halifax - Boston 2x daily on Air Canada should be back in May.

That's encouraging, yet puzzling. What's the demand for daily service to Philly, especially on an aircraft with at least 60% greater capacity (depending on configuration) than an E175? I don't get it.

It also would've been great to see AA restore their old service to JFK - great connections and more convenient than EWR or LGA (in my opinion, anyway).

Yes, for sure. But so are JFK and LGA (and they already serve LGA from YHZ).

Anyway, I'm certainly not complaining - any new service is a good thing! Philly just hadn't occurred to me as the most obvious choice.

I've never been there but my wife has, several times, most recently in 2018 or 19, I think. She described it pretty much the same way.

I agree, Philly feels like a poorly run LaGuardia. A dirty Bus stop. A buddy and I were travelling back from Cleveland on business and literally made our connection to Halifax as they were closing the aircraft door.

Great news!! The A321XLR will be a far better experience than the MAX with their Signature Lie Flat product.
