I don't think it's too much of a stretch to argue that housing (and thus housing construction) is essential. WRT non-housing construction, that does seem to be a harder argument to make.

Construction seemed to be going this morning and the non-elevator core work seems to have reached street level.

Interestingly, the sidewalk on 2nd Street is closed off again, and there appear to be columns going up where the sidewalk is (was?). There is no room for the sidewalk to be extended on to the street, so I assume there will be an overhang above the sidewalk there?

Here's a previously posted rendering zoomed into Pixelation Hell showing that there is indeed an overhang along Nueces and Cesar Chavez.

But I doubt that will happen even if the Orders didn't cause a delay.
Walking my pup by 6X today I asked a worker when the first crane is set to rise. He said it would be the first weekend of May.

Housing is health care. I'm 100% for all housing to continue. Also ok with serious conditions placed on the builders. Your workers violate and you're held responsible.

Has anyone been able to (safely) take some snaps of progress here?

I'm not much for taking photos. But I work near it, and the core appears to be about a floor shorter than the Northshore podium.

Excellent! Thanks, ATX. There's no webcam for this right?

I'm sure there is one, but it's not public.

Sorry for the poor quality. It's the best I can do right now.

Ask and ye shall receive. From this morning. Only saw one worker on site, nothing going on. Core seems to be about 3 stories tall now above ground.

The construction activity on this project has noticeably slowed down.

Yeah what is going on at this site? It was moving and now it appears to have stopped.

I try to walk around it every day walking my pup. In the last couple of days they've jumped the core another story and have made a ton of progress putting down the decking for the second above grade story. The two story, oval shaped lobby columns on the north end are finishing up too. It seems like it's been slow of late but they've done a lot! My guess is this being the first above ground story it was tricky and consumed a lot of extra time and attention.

Thanks, 427! That makes sense with those tricky levels... We'll begin to see this baby rise over the summer and I cannot wait!
