Green Bay is a pretty cool city considering its ridiculously low population and relative density. Also, I was born there so it would be like tearing down a historical building like Lincoln's home or something!

Also, that retarded bear is licking its hand, not talking to you...

The Metlife Building in NYC effectively destroyed the beautiful view down Park Avenue. Tear it down!

I really like Michael Graves's Portland Building.

As for tearing down whatever I wanted in Fort Worth, I'd start with:

Burnett Plaza

Carter+Burgess Plaza

Maybe the City Center towers

Basically, a nice start at undoing all the modern crap that crushes in scale and deadens the street.

Im Kinda soso with ya there. I dont think Burnett has much of one being away on the edge of town and on the edge of the park. Carter+Burgess definitly has no scale, and has no street level appeal, but it does look nice from the street level looking up almost everywhere in the city. The CC towers both have a futuristic feel to the base, with the crazy shape and glassed in escalotors and the huge Metel columns. I thing its street level is great, its just different. I know it wanst mentioned, but The Tower's has improved greatly since the tornado,it fits in yet stands out.

My problem with all of these is their utterly massive parking garages

The sides are unimpressive, but I actually like them. There's some restrained 70's cheesy "glam" in them that has a distinct flavor, and the sides aren't all that visible due to nearby highrises. The front is actually pretty interesting. The back is indeed horrible but there should be a skyscraper going up on that side hopefully within a few years, which should just about entirely block that view.

Burnett Plaza's a piece of junk, always has been, but what really rankles about it was that they tore down the Medical Arts Building, a GORGEOUS 18-story '20s tower that engaged the street like an urban building should and was much more gracefully massed to avoid smothering the area with giant slab-osity. That area's a dead zone *because* of Burnett Plaza's presence.

C+B is deadly dull, and the only redeeming quality of it is that it's finally getting some proper street-level outward-facing retail retrofitted onto it, in the form of a new restaurant called Grace. Of course, they also tore down some outstanding historic buildings with proper street interaction to build that slab of modern dreariness - the Aviation Building, an awesome Art Deco tower, and the old Palace Theater, which was Streamline Moderne.

The City Center Towers actually bother me most at ground level. I loathe the pedestrian experience around those buildings. Those pods that drop down, and all the pitch-black nooks and crannies - it's awful urban design. Thank Paul Rudolph, who is a strong contender for the title of Worst Architect In American History.

I would have torn down the Tower as well, prior to its makeover. Now, it's a fine member of the streetscape.

yeah,I agree that there not very good, Burnett and Carter+Burgess have none,it the building that were torn down to build them is pretty sad. I can only appreciate them for thier Skyscraperness, Burnett is one of my favorite Boxes anywhere,it couldeve been much worse I guess. C+B is bland all around, but its not to terrible. I think CC is the only one I truly like.

IMO theres much worse,AT&T,these two

But I do agree with you for the most part.

Unfortunately, I don't have a pic of it, the Hercules Bldg. in Wilmington, DE, is one that was taken down a few yrs back. Good! It was one of the tallest (23 fl.) and a real eye-sore. It looked so cheaply built. Like something built in a hurry.

That is the most god awful building ever! It looks like coal plant or something like that! Tear that thing down for sure. London has some pretty terrible stuff from the 50s and 60s.

looks like a few of you would like to see chicago leveled and given back to the indians.

chicago's skyline is nearly perfect, IMO...even better than new york or hong kong and all those different styles make chicago look so complete.

THAT's what General Growth Properties headquarters looks like?

Befitting that they own Arizona Center, which is unphotographable because of its awful blank walls on Phoenix's downtown streets.

It's the structure on the left in this picture:

which must be destroyed.

This is easy! The 40-story mega-complex Riverside Plaza in Minneapolis...

And good god, this was only Phase I !!! It was originally going to cover several hundred acres.

By the way, this was the apartment complex that "Mary Richards" moved into during the last season of the Mary Tyler Moore Show. It does have some very nice units in the F Building, but it is still ghastly.

I love Fort Worth, and I love downtown Fort Worth, but they rolled a '1' when it came to skyscrapers.
