What's across the street? That will look fine from street level with the trees planted.

The real concern is will it preserve the drive through banking lanes ?

Also, looks like that Block 56 project requires Mt Prospect to relocate their Fire Dept HQ... to an old modernist bank that's been adaptively reused.

So many of these dope bank buildings get torn down.. it's great to see one get re-used, especially because the long-span roof makes it very flexible to adapt.

(this is an old rendering, they since fucked up the west elevation with the bay doors... but still a partial win...)

Design Evanston backs HACC tower on Sherman
By Bill Smith on March 23, 2020 - 11:41am

Design Evanston this weekend released a report voicing support for Housing Authority of Cook County plans for a mixed-income apartment tower on what's now a parking lot adjoining HACC's Perlman Apartments at 1900 Sherman Ave.

The project has not yet begun the city's planned development review process, but, in a presentation at a City Council meeting last April, HACC officials said they aimed to provide 120 housing units:

Great updates Harry. Thx

8000 North Lincoln has looked like that for well over a year now - a sadly bungled project.

There is actually progress. The site sat without any construction for almost a year, then around January the garage structure went up.

I drive by every other day and see them working on this one each time I drive by. So it is proceeding, albeit should be close to completion now had it not been for all the delays.

Well that's great news. Last time I was in town it looked liked they hadn't done anything in a while.

I wonder if there has been a design change. I remember reading in the Patch that they had to address some issues - something maybe about how it cantilevered out at the corner?

Office tower gets final OK
By Bill Smith on April 28, 2020 - 1:36pm

Evanston aldermen voted 8-1 Monday to give final approval to plans for a 232-foot-tall office building on Davis Street just west of Chicago Avenue.

The building, originally given the address 601 Davis, but now identified at the 605 Davis development, would be built on the site of the current Chase Bank drive-thru and an adjoining vacant lot.

The article above says 232' feet, but the PD document on the city of Evanston website still lists 252'. I don't know if that's a real change or just a typo.

Will they preserve the Drive Thru Banking ? an integral part of Evanston's urban fabric !

Crimes against the elderly ?? I really enjoyed my dad's place where he looked out over the El/UP tracks. For now the East face has a great view and tons of sun.

Glad to see this got approved. However, not to align myself with the naysayers in the article, but I also have my doubts this will actually move ahead in this environment.
