Did a quick lien search on the property:

Yates Construction filed on 4/10/2020 an affidavit/lien for $91,053.00 in unpaid labor and materials.

DAZ Construction similarly filed a lien on 4/14/2020 for $57,754.50.

There are liens from the City of Atlanta for non-payment of solid waste tax filed in 2019 and 2020, a little over $10,000.00 total owed.

What a shock. Also there was a mortgage note balloon if I recall, coming due.

At this point, they're probably just trolling this thread

Somehow there will be people on here who think it's still happening.

Let's all band together, form a LLC and present them an offer...assuming we can locate the responsible management.

No way. This was completely out of the blue. No one could have seen this coming. Unpredictable and shocking turn of events.

But yeah, what a joke

So now we know what the going rate in Atlanta is for a sucking chest wound mud pit, $360k.

Hopefully they sell the rights to the site and a good developer gets something done there - Admittedly I don't know much about this stuff so not sure how long they can hold onto it, or even why they are still pretending they will build something there

Now that Opus 2, and any other opuses on 14th St. have died, does anyone know of any plans or speculations about this deserted landscape? How about a mini-park? ASO?

That real estate is way too prime for a damn park.

A new 1200ft tower called "Magnum Opus." But they'll just dig the pit deeper and leave it for 5 more years first. Maybe put a couple more trailers dangling perilously over the edge of the pit for greater effect.

Exactly. Which is why it is so hard getting a project there done. To make it feasible, it has to be an out of the park proposal.

You mean like Central Park in NYC? Clearly a financial wasteland that could be developed.

Central Park was built 150 years ago and was not surrounded by dense development yet. Apples and oranges...

Personally I'm far too busy (lazy) to check on the recorded mortgage. Maybe one of you legal eagles look at it and see when their balloon payment is due. No way the owners can dodge that date and no lender will refinance. Then we'll see some distress action.

No - it is just apples. Progressive cities continue to build parks in areas with high financial potential. Also religious institutions and museums paying no taxes are on prime land.

You can't compare a small construction site to a park that is bigger than Midtown Atlanta. Apples to oranges.
