If I was looking for a condo this would be my choice too. This place will have the best views.

The best thing is that they'd be protected - and not because of a CVC. The river and hills view would not go away.

Fantastic. I'm jealous, and I look out of my window at an 18K+ foot snow-peaked mountain.

Speaking of bats, they'd probably fly directly toward this building. Hope none of the residents are scared of flying rodents. (cue the Batman voice: "Bats aren't rodents.")

Bats coming right at the building, and the sky lit from behind. Should be a great way to see the bats.

Lol I was gonna say the same thing about the bats. They are mammals from the order of Chiroptera, the only mammal that can truely fly. They are not closely related to rodents other than simply being mammals.

Since they use radar they'll just fly around the building but it probably will be an interesting vantage point.

View does look amazing but i guess dependent on the mexican-american museum remaining as it is. Is there some guarantee that property couldn't be sold and developed?

I don't know of any guarantees, but I'd be surprised if it's ever redeveloped. They may add to their building (their master plan calls for a couple of additions on the northern part of their current building, just south of the surface lot). Beyond that, I can't imagine anything would happen to change the view for 70 Rainey.

The Downtown view from 70 Rainey would be greatly affected by a tower on the site of the Villas of Town Lake. But fortunately for the 70 Rainey residents, Sutton appears to be the developer. That means the site will sit empty for years after the villas are demolished.

Reading descriptions on the condo sites saying the westward view is protected. Don't see that anywhere on the 70 rainey website or facebook page though. Usually they throw in a qualifier such as " as close to protected as it gets".
