^ Now imagine that same view a year from now with the Freedom Tower. People have complained that the Downtown skyline has become too "flat", but these smaller towers have a role to play as well.

and considering that those "small" towers are all in the 200m+ range. only in NY (and some other cities as HK) you can put a 200m tall tower and it won't stand out.

What is that building under construction? I assume it's the last of the BPC towers.

Morgan Stanley Said to Consider Renting Former Goldman Sachs Headquarters

By David M. Levitt and Michael J. Moore
Oct 18, 2010

Quote:
Morgan Stanley may be the next tenant at the former home of rival Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

Morgan Stanley is searching for about 1 million square feet (93,000 square meters) of offices in lower Manhattan and is considering 1 New York Plaza, where it already rents, and Goldman Sachs’s former headquarters at 85 Broad St., three people with knowledge of the discussions said. The bank also is looking at other properties as it seeks to consolidate some of its downtown operations, said one of the people, who asked not to be named because the talks are private.

Morgan Stanley, the sixth-largest U.S. bank by assets, is a long way from deciding where to house its downtown operations, the people said. The company has also looked at potential layouts at 1 New York Plaza, where it rents about 750,000 square feet, two people said.

Morgan Stanley’s new downtown space wouldn’t replace its headquarters at 1585 Broadway.

and i love this tower i think that both the mass and height are great it fills a hole in lower manhattan nicely and has created an ever greater canyon around the WTC,simply great
I would not quite say boring though downtowns skyline has become fairly bland and unintresting after the introduction of the chase manhattan bank tower, one new york plaza etc. Midtown and central park still look good though
