Seems really odd that at this stage they are putting in the boardwalk, perhaps they want a 'weathered' look

setback

I find it interesting how Queen's facade along Lower Water St is set back slightly...about 6 inches on each successive floor.

Oh, no, design flaw! maybe use a slanted brick like an external crown molding to alleviate this problem....

The renderings show a smooth layer of metal cladding on that part of the building. Looks like it will be sloped but not stepped.

From the Chronicle Herald, a very short article...

District energy plant for Queen’s Marque
The Chronicle Herald
Published: 18 hours ago
Updated: 18 hours ago

The Armour Group, developer of the Queen’s Marque complex on the Halifax waterfront, has invested in a district energy plant to enable a projected operation that is 50 per cent more efficient than buildings designed in the 1990s.

Removing reliance on conventional heating methods and fossil fuels should result in savings of about four-million kilowatt hours per year, according to the company.

The Queen’s Marque will have passive heating and cooling using sea water and active chilled beam technology.

As illustrated by this webcam, there is now quite a bit of cladding on the northern most section of this development. The glazing looks of pretty high quality. :-)

Hard to get a good image of it when the sun is out, as it shines directly into the camera... but it looks good so far.
