Construction status update of My Consignment opening soon at East Point Shopping Centre. They've split the former Celebrate spot into 2 separate units. My Consignment will be 3,000sq.ft. Pictures are from My Consignment's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.p...00071669834054

^^^ Speaking of East Point Shopping... I saw Gojis announced they were closing for good. I have a feeling the new Delish ice cream spot uptown took away a lot of their business.

Wow it's been so long since I've been in McAllister Place, but that Dunkaroos stand definitely caught my attention. I'm glad the empty spots are getting filled up, I'll have to check it out.

This was on the CCD Canada website before in 2019. Also in Huddle Today's article on the Moncton location, they mention they were still looking for a franchise owner and finalizing a location https://huddle.today/mezza-lebanese-...taurant-in-n-b
Quote:
"We’re looking to finalize a location and franchise with the right operator in Saint John, the big remaining market in New Brunswick,” he said."

So hopefully since this was updated on the site, they've now finalized (or least closer to finalizing) a franchisee and location.

Fundy Vinyl & Supplies just announced they will be relocating from their current location at McAllister Place. Their new store will be at 535 Westmorland Road (same building as KFC/Taco Bell). This new location will be bigger and they can then starting offering classes. They will be closing at the mall right before Christmas and will reopen at the new store, a few weeks after, in the new year. Congrats to this local business on expanding!

After they move, then this spot at the mall will become vacant. It's the former Naturalizer space and is 912sq.ft. Hopefully something will take this spot.

Country Lane will be closing at McAllister Place at the end of January. They've been at the mall for 17 years.

Sad to see another store go in the mall. Who knows what the future will hold for that mall in the next 5 years.

Brunswick Square

I was in Brunswick Square yesterday for the first time in perhaps 25 years. I could not believe how empty it was. It is now down to stores ONLY on the ground floor - some of the food court vendors, the Lawton's, and a lotto booth.

Clearly whomever owns this building now is doing this to re-purpose the structure...but what is the plan?

I had family visiting and they all said "Wow, what a great looking space...why isn't it full of stores" and my only answer was "I think they are getting it ready for a major overhaul". I wasn't sure but it was the only think I could think of.

Does anyone have insight into what is eventually going to happen here? If they are going to keep it as an empty eyesore as part of the Uptown Pedway, the City of Saint should intervene - in my opinion. Either renovate and fill it with stores, re-purpose it as office space, or find a buyer who will.

It is sad. So much potential now that the rest of Uptown is booming.

What's bothered me more is that almost none of the departing shops have relocated elsewhere- they've just closed. Not that I'm a big fast food guy, but you'd think McDonalds and Deluxe would be happier with storefronts uptown where they could actually get traffic after 2PM.

I wonder what the Delta plans to do? They spent a lot on interior renos but the outside of Brunswick Square has gone from ugly to poorly maintained and ugly this decade.
