New construction on Eileen Stubbs

Does anyone know what is going at the end of Eillen Stubbs Ave? There is a large site facing Highway 111 that has been cleared next to the last building on the left past the Ramada. Looking on Google earth, it is right next to the Home Depot and Walmart in Dartmouth Crossing.

The residential is going in at the other end of the park where there is currently massive industrial expansion of the Burnside Park happening. I think the office park is what is going in near Wal Mart.

I think it's a new office building if we are talking the same site. ADP Canada is expanding and requires more space thus the new building.

Ahh. I noticed the new roadway pushed into there by the old quarry section, now I know.

3 Spectacle Lake Drive. Current site on Goudy Dr. at the airport will have expanded flight ops & absorb the jobs coming in from London, Ont.

A few Randoms:

The project at Wright and John Savage (NSGEU I think). Looks as though the foundation work is progressing well.

The new project at the end of Eileen Stubbs is cleared and most of the lot has been leveled and base rock is going in.

Finally and not just in terms of the last thing I will mention. 202 Brownlow (Royal Bank, Good Life, Staples etc.) has finally fixed their parking lot. It is now a ring system as opposed to what was once 2 single direction lanes. Makes it easier for all the idiots that we always driving the wrong way anyway.

Cherubini expansion takes shape
November 13, 2012 - 6:27pm

‘Things are really revving up’ at metalworker’s new site

Cherubini Metal Works Ltd. has the exterior shell of its new Dartmouth building up and was pouring concrete at its massive new fabrication plant Tuesday.

“Construction is well underway on one of the bigger new buildings in the park,” Steve England, vice-president of operations at Cherubini, said in an interview.

The estimated $15-million, 100,000-square-foot metal fabrication plant, on a 61/2-hectare site on Wilkinson Avenue, now dominates that part of Burnside Park east of Dartmouth Crossing.

This is one the buildings going up on Wilkinson Ave near Cutler Ave.

Here are some pictures of the building going up on the end of Eileen Stubbs Ave. Since this last picture there has been a lot done. As of today they were pouring for the basement level floor.
These range from a few months ago to a few weeks ago.

One thing I have noticed is how close they cleared the land bordering Home Depot. I really hope an extension is planned from Eileen Stubbs into the back of Dartmouth Crossing.

All by me.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe it is another 2-3 storey to match what is already in the lot.

Here is a recent one:

I don't know what this building will look like but I believe the name is going to be Atboro II.

I did some looking and the only thing I could find was this from back in 2008.

EDIT: Did a double check for you;

Atboro House 2

It's a two storey Class 'A' office building. Pretty standard for Burnside.

Thanks,

It appears to have more glass than the standard Burnside Special at least.

Tidbits from the Burnside News:

• The Hardman Group’s Wright & Burnside Campus is getting its second major tenant in January as WBLI relocates from Bedford to the phase one building of the new development. Attracted by the project’s open green space, green technology and accommodations for users of alternative transportation, WBLI will be moving in over Christmas with the intent of opening the doors on its new location on January 2. The Wright & Burnside Campus is also looking at adding a restaurant, small strip plaza and a small commercial office building to the lower level of its site, with direct access off Wright Avenue.

• Cherubini Metal Works’ new building on Wilkinson Avenue in the Logistics Park section of Burnside is headed for a completion date in February or March, but right now the company is busy pouring concrete and getting ready to consolidate much of its operations to the new 100,000 sq.ft. fabrication facility. However, even after the new operation opens, the company’s Pleasant Street and Eastern Passage operations will remain at full capacity.

New Medical Examiner's facility opens
Paul Darrow/Communications Nova Scotia

Quote:
Green technology and advanced forensic facilities are improving medical examiner services to help bring closure for families and find answers for police and other agencies.

Justice Minister Ross Landry officially opened the Dr. William D. Finn Centre for Forensic Medicine in Burnside in November. The facility is named for Canada's first medical examiner.

"The loss of a loved one should not be further complicated by out-of-date facilities," Landry says. "Although Dr. Finn would see a substantial difference in the facilities and technology available today compared to 100 years ago, I'm sure he would agree that professionalism and compassion for families is still what's most important."

Dr. Finn is recognized for his expertise during the Halifax Explosion and Titanic disaster. One of Dr. Finn's grandchildren, Nancy Crane of Halifax expressed the family's pride with the naming of the facility.
