Hopefully the first of many for that part of town. The fact that the LA Times article on the Vietnamese Migration from CA to Houston has this about an upcoming project...

Hopefully the next place to grow a skyline. I can kinda see something with the Energy Corridor & Westchase skylines being bridged and expanded by some new highrises in that area. I'm curious about that $ figure though. Memorial Hermann's one new tower at Memorial City alone is supposed to cost $335M or thereabouts. Not that I'm expecting anything that big...

Well that is great news if they can sell out a tower before it is even built. This means great things for bigger and better buildings. I hope 2008 brings lots of suprises to Houston. Plus we have some great projects that will keep us busy, better get those cameras ready...

You know The Woodlands has a nice little business district developing as well. One crane comes down, another goes up. It's ridiculous...in a good way.

Can somebody give a rundown of projects (big projects) and status...including Earthquest Adventures??

I noticed they are building a tower for cancer patients right down the road from the Anadarko Tower. But you're right, there are so many towers being built there... I just can't keep up.

In the past few years the area has gone from bare land to 5 Medical buildings (so far), 2 of which belong to Methodist Willowbrook.

Shamrock Tower is old news. Was canceled years ago.

That thing was flatlined about two years ago. Financing was a really big problem. Further, it seemed as if the project's mastermind, Tracy Suttles, didn't have a lot of experience financing and putting together highrise projects to begin with (most of what he'd done previously were midrise projects such as Gramercy Park), and with DT already being new ground so to speak for new highrise residential projects, his apparent inexperienced proved to be too much to overcome.

Oh well.

(NOTE: I'll readily admit that the second part is mere conjecture but financing issues were talked about in good detail in HBJ articles as well)

If all goes well, maybe City Centre (no not the Town & Country variety) will go on that lot in its stead.

Can't say I'm particularly sad about that one going away. The signs (or lack thereof) were there for a while. When they took down the sign with the rendering, the promotional delivery truck and the sales office disappeared... yeah. Kinda knew where that was heading.

Even less bad news when you consider Boymelgreen's twin 27-story condos will be built regardless of the pre-sales and is within walking distance of the old shopping center this was planned for.
