Georgia State to create two new city blocks at stadium site

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...blocks-on.html

Georgia State University RFQ
Quote:
Georgia State University is moving ahead with its redevelopment of the Turner Field/Summerhill area in downtown Atlanta, with plans to create two new city blocks on the former site of Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.

Georgia State is planning to divide the existing block bounded by Fulton Street to the north, Hank Aaron Drive to the east, Georgia Avenue to the south and Pollard Boulevard to the west into multiple lots for development. In the initial phase, new streets will be constructed through the parking lots now on the site to create two new city blocks.

Georgia State's new project will include roadway and streetscape improvements to serve the newly created blocks. The existing parking lots and associated infrastructure will be removed and demolished. New road paving, sidewalks, street lighting, landscaping, roadway striping will also be part of the project.

"Conspiracy' a basement drink parlor is planned in Summerhill

https://www.atlantamagazine.com/dini...in-summerhill/

Raise a glass to crop circles, aliens, and the Illuminati—Jake Karmin, former general manager and bartender of the now-closed Hand in Hand bar in Virginia-Highland, is opening a conspiracy-themed basement drink parlor in Summerhill. Together with Judy Ho, also formerly of Hand in Hand, Karmin will open the aptly named Conspiracy in late 2019 or early 2020.

The fact that many more neighborhoods are becoming more cohesive and adding additional commercial districts is fantastic for atlanta overall.

Yeah I want to learn more about this. I’ve always thought whichever intown neighborhoods racks up the most diversity in quality international food will win the best neighborhood in my mind. Summerhill is also getting Tapatalk Market, which has been an outstanding pop up at Gato and a handful other places lately.

State bond package includes Georgia State University Convocation Center

Quote:
This year's building projects wish list is highlighted by the next installments of funding for a couple of projects in downtown Atlanta that already have received initial commitments of spending. The bond package would put $48 million toward a planned $61 million Convocation Center at Georgia State University and $22 million toward a $36 million makeover of the front entrance of the Georgia World Congress Center, including a pedestrian mall and a relocated bus depot.

I think that's referring to the buses that shuttle people to and from the convention center.

I'm imagining something similar to that Food courts in every Asian supermarket. If they can bring in some of the quality vendors from BuHi and Gwinnett. then it will no longer require a trip up northeast of the city for great Chinese/Asian cuisine and will be a huge hit.
