^^You know, I took his comment as an attempt at sarcasm and that it was the speed of the American work force he was putting down (even though that doesn't really make it acceptable if he was serious). Just sayin' it isn't clear what he meant, to me anyway.

Wednesday Morning 04/05/2017

I also noticed the protrusion atop the center of the building. It is a continuation of the same structure seen in the rest of the crown. I suspect it to be for a utility like a microwave device.

As there is no visible stairway elsewhere I think the stairs could be permanent in what looks like scaffolding. In time we will know.

This view is from the Civic Center, 27th floor of the Essex Fox Plaza.

The new "spire" is a construction hoist guide rail. You can see one of the main hoist rails in the above photo to the left of the left crane. I have never seen permanent stairs erected with scaffolding; both the hoist and stairs are temporary. The lighting maintenance platforms will be accessible via a small staircase or ladders built within or around the center shaft.

One consequence of this monster building is that it makes the rest of the surrounding buildings look shorter than they are.

True, I used to be impressed with Millennium Tower and was excited when it got topped out, but now it just seems pathetic. I'm even starting to forget it exist. I'm just glad the skyline is starting to advance on from all those box towers.

The best thing is there are now multiple buildings, with more to come (I'm looking at YOU, Oceanwide) erasing the "tabletop effect" that used to be an overwhelming impression given by the San Francisco skyline.

Yeah, at first glance it definitely has that effect (i didn't really mind the old tabletop effect, because from some angles it focused attention on how broad SF's skyline is). But then you notice the tiny cars, and realize that the surrounding buildings aren't small, it's just that the salesforce tower is huge

It's gonna be pretty impressive once parcel F (800'), and Oceanwide center (910') join the party.

Looking at that photo, poor Millennium Tower. Too bad they can't raise it and move it someplace where we can see it.

Is this building located on a prominent hill? It looks much taller than 1070 feet.

No, it's not on any hill. Mission Street between Fremont and First is barely above sea level.

Supposedly in his remarks, Benioff said the 60th floor will contain offices, but the 61st "Ohana" floor will remain open space, intended for Salesforce gatherings during the workweek and available to the public (City-sponsored events) free of charge on nights and weekends.

A Tree and a Flag to Celebrate

A view from my apartment in the Civic Center of the tree & flag on top of the last structural steel in place today. I must say it is exciting to see this mammoth steel structure finished. It won't be long before the skin is applied.
