McConnellsburg is a borough in south central Pennsylvania, and is the seat of Fulton County. The population is around 1,200.
McConnellsburg was founded in 1786 by Daniel McConnell, whose family settled in the Great Cove Valley. The community was started on a pioneer trail that went to Philadelphia. That trail later became the Chambersburg-Bedford Turnpike in the 1800s, and then the Lincoln Highway in 1914.
Today, McConnellsburg is a small town on US Route 30, which connects much of southern Pennsylvania. Isolated from larger settlements by the Appalachian Mountains on most sides, McConnellsburg is sheltered from growth further east in Pennsylvania, and further south in Maryland.
