I don't think spires are legal in Miami.

FAA Approves Skyrise Height Increase To 1,049 Feet

Quote:
The FAA granted approval yesterday for SkyRise Miami to be built at a height of 1,049 feet above sea level.

SkyRise was approved in 2008 for a height of 1,000 feet above sea level, at a time when the FAA had stricter height limits. Under newly eased height restrictions, towers in Miami have recently been approved at 1,049 feet above sea level.

The SkyRise site sits at just four feet above sea level, so the tower can rise 1,045 feet above ground – the tallest in Miami. Nearby, PMG was approved for a condo tower that is 1,041 feet above ground at 300 Biscayne.

Lots of super talls. Second only to NYC.

We have:

1) Skyrise Miami
2) CCCC Tower is a super tall
3) 520 Biscayne's has a proposal bid from Axis Reality for a 80 floor, 1100 foot tower. Unveiled yesterday, but no one noticed.

4) 255 East Flager will be 1,001 ft and it comes with a 837 foot secondary tower
5) Miami Central phase II tower will be 1000 ft.
6)One bayfront at 1005 ft roughly.
7) One Brickell City Centre Phase III
8) 300 Biscayne is over a 1000 ft
9) Villa Magna has 2 towers that are 995 ft.

Some near super talls

1) 10 Southwest 8th will be 960 feet roughly

In terms of construction, none as of yet, although they are working on the pier section of skyrise from what I gather on the webcams but no hardcore steel or pile driving.

Wow! Surprising! As far as you know, which ones are most likely to be built?

Would like to see Miami get at least one or two Supertalls, along with Seattle's supertall.

In all honestly, I'd bank on China Contructions CCCC tower to be built. They have a great track record. Along with Skyrise, Miami Central Phase II, and Brickell Phase III. I think these have the best chance of happening.

I'm a little pessimistic about the prospects of 255 East Flager (volatile parcel) and the rest.

One Bayfront has been a while in the making, and idk if they ever will rise.

The rest could rise, but they better do it quickly before the market craps out. If it doesn't, they all have a good chance of happening, but most of them could easily get axed if the market crashes so we are gambling on these.

But I hope they all rise, and at their height and not some downgrade.

If that happens, Miami would be number two in super talls. Quite impressive for a city with a city limit population of less than 600k.

What I could see happening if the market isn't favorable is that many of these will be redesigned and be in the 600 - 700 foot range. Not the first time that its happened, but being the optimist that I am, I hope I'm wrong.

Skyrise Miami and Legends Announce Development and Investment Partnership

Legends, the premier sports and entertainment company, today announced that it will help design and operate SkyRise Miami, the highly anticipated, 1,000 foot tall vertical entertainment observation tower currently planned on the shore of Biscayne Bay.

SkyRise Miami was conceptualized by developer Jeff Berkowitz and will stand as Florida’s tallest building and the country’s southernmost observation tower. Upon expected completion in 2020, it will offer guests a multitude of entertainment options, including multiple observation venues, interactive exhibits, thrill rides, family attractions and dining options.

Bayside renovations move forward despite this silly tower ever having any hopes of being built.

Sports giant Legends investing in SkyRise Miami

Quote:
SkyRise Miami, a 1,000-foot vertical amusement center planned to become the focal point of Miami’s skyline, is evolving with added attractions.

“We’re still hoping to recommence the construction by year’s end,” developer Jeff Berkowitz told Miami Today on Tuesday.

Sports and entertainment company Legends announced Monday it will help design and operate the tower, planned to rise over Biscayne Bay behind Bayside Marketplace. Mr. Berkowitz said he still plans to boast in 2020 that SkyRise Miami is the tallest building in Florida.

Legends said SkyRise will offer multiple observation venues, interactive exhibits, thrill rides, family attractions and dining options. When unveiled in 2014, SkyRise was to include observation decks, nightclubs, a flight simulator and a bungee jump-like platform, costing an estimated $430 million.

But the cost, Mr. Berkowitz told Miami Today on Tuesday, “has escalated beyond that, based on additional attractions that we’ve added.”

Without citing specifics, he said, “We’ll be announcing the attractions as we go forward. We’ve added very exciting amusements to the project, as we work with Legends to maximize both the experience and the revenue.”

Legends, owned by the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys, said it will be responsible for the tower’s development and operation, creating guest interactions and food and beverage offerings, executing marketing, programming and sales strategies, and overseeing day-to-day management.

Legends is making a financial investment in the project, Mr. Berkowitz said. He declined to say how much.

The tower is to rise on city-owned land that was a parking lot for Hard Rock Cafe. In 2014, commissioners approved new leases to allow the project, and voters OK’d the deal.

SkyRise Wants To Add Giant Observation Wheel, Chair Drop

Quote:
SkyRise is requesting the city modify their 2014 approval to build an observation tower behind Bayside Marketplace.

The most visible change is the addition of a “Giant Observation Wheel” and a “Giant Chair Drop” to the north elevation, which will be visible for miles around.

Other changes include:

Reduction in parking from 744 to 598 spaces

New level 12 “Sky Plunge” attraction from 536 feet above sea level

Level 13/14/15 “Flying Theater” at 570 feet above sea level (relocation and redesign)

Level 16/17/18/ indoor/outdoor observation deck at 638-686 feet above sea level

Level 21-26 commercial area/obesrvation (754-866 feet)

Although SkyRise had been approved by the FAA for a height increase to 1,049 feet above sea level (1,045 above ground), the new plans retain the previously approved height of 986 feet above ground.

Arquitectonica remains the architect.

Miami’s Planning Department is now in the process of reviewing the proposed changes.

Wonder what that's all about. The wheel is interesting, it was meant to be an observation tower. It probably needed a redesign when they added that though.
