Renee & Melody

My buddy Eric just came in from Manhattan for the holidays, and with him came light.... Not but a few weeks back he decided to just quit his job and hit the industry head first.. which is hardcore - i don't care who you are.. esp in NYC for pete's sake.. Anyway, he bought a few lights and wanted to test them out asap, so the other night we gathered at my place with a few girl friends and did just that.. In all, there were four cameras on two models, which was a mess, so I really didn't come away with anything to write home about.. More than anything, I wanted Eric to have as much strobe time as possible, having just got the lights and needing to learn...quickly. I moreless hung around the set, just grabbing one when I saw it.. Renee and Melody are coming back over sometime in the next few days for a more focused shoot.. So anyway, like I said, its nothing ground breaking, but fun to look at nonetheless..

Rock this if at all possible.. (I really dig this track)

So, like, that's what you do nowadays? Take pictures of girls like these?
Haha.

Really great stuff - you're in a league of your own, Ninja.

You know it's just not right to post these pics here. There's too much self-abuse already, and these pics will only contribute to the problem. tsk-tsk Ninja.

btw, nice pics, thanks.

nah... i still take to the streets at least once or twice daily.. though i will admit, i thoroughly enjoy working with models.. and not for just the obvious reasons... compared to street and architecture, the market for this stuff is just insane... on flickr, i went from 3000 views (after three months) with just street and the norm... i posted the Shara (Chara) set and within 24 hours i had 10,000 hits.. a week later (today), its at 22,000 and counting... Point being, the potential for exposure increases 10 fold when you work with pretty ladies...

this
is similar to what i'm working towards.. check out the "chicks" set. (mildly nsfw)

i'll always be a street/arch shooter.. i'm just trying new things.. so much to shoot, so little time..

thanks everyone (:

Ninja, those 3 guys you can see out your window were actually sent by me to snatch you so that I can impersonate you and take over your role of photographing hotties all day...of course I don't think a poser like myself could imitate that fine, one-of-its-kind Ninja quality--so I think I'll just get drunk instead.

ha! thanks guys.. and i don't know what you heard, but i'm still a poser myself.. when it comes to subject matter and settings, i'm overwhelmed...lost...honestly, i lack the creativity i desire.. maybe, hopefully, i just haven't tapped into it yet.. like that guy i posted above.. his subect matter and settings are fantastic... where does one come up with so many sick props/sets?.. and seriously, i'm asking...

My personal book? We start work in Jan 07! If the Dallas book does well, we'll be releasing "Urban Fabric" the series in the years to come..

There are other shots that are being published in multiple artist compilations as well, like "The Fort Worth Book"... That will be a single shot publication.. 1 page, 1 credit line... Urban Fabric will be mine, cover to cover.. That's the one you need to watch for!

no problem.. they're a great inspiration, for me.. i like his approach... and you can never argue with someone that has a strong, distinct style of their own, like he does.. he rejects minimalism in every way.. which I really dig.. he does his own thing.. seems kinda jerky tho… most of the greats are..

You apparently have a knack for luring attractive women into your lair, replete with exposed brick walls and other such trappings. You're getting better and better with each one of these sets, to which I've been tardy in replying. Are you using only lights? Or also a flash? Also, one of the issues I'm having with indoor people photography is proper shutter speeds, especially with my niece, who moves really fast. The only way I know how to freeze her is with a flash, but that isn't always quick enough and it isn't always flattering. If there's any oil on the skin, it just glows. Highlights are blown, etc. Can you give me some advice?

This, right hurr, is quality:
