He left as a free agent so I don't think anybody should be that upset (this isn't like Mike O'Shea abandoning the Ticats for the Argos... twice! ). I don't recall whether Ottawa tried very hard to keep him though.

Harris's age, injury history, and tendency to falter under pressure are the biggest issues I'd have if I were a GM. Personally I think Ottawa is better off letting a younger player learn the ropes, especially if they do the massive re-build that I think is needed.

Mike Reilly just announced his retirement with BC. Congrats to him a real outstanding guy and cfl legend. I know he has had some struggles recently with anxiety after his mother's death i hope he has a bright future post football.

Still to this day my only player jersey from the CFL.

I loved how he played, how he led, how he carried himself/spoke, his style and what he represented.

Enjoy retirement good sir!

Apparently they're looking to Rourke to be the starter, but you'd have to think they'll shop for a decent veteran to both mentor him and step up if needed. And Campbell said as much.

Whether Masoli would prefer not to be in a "1 and 1A" situation again may be an issue for him. But money talks, he'd be closer to home...

Quote:
“Our plan is that Nathan will be the starter. We would like to add a veteran CFL quarterback to the mix, I would look at it as a 1 and 1A situation,” Campbell said.

“The idea would be to go to training camp — not as an open competition — give Nathan every opportunity to go, but bring in a proven quarterback.”

Campbell has a long-standing relationship with Trevor Harris from three campaigns spent together in Ottawa with the Redblacks. Harris is currently a free agent, but the Lions have not had any contract negotiations with him, yet, according to Campbell.

BC needs a mobile qb while they rebuild their o-line before they are in the upper tier with Winnipeg Hamilton and Saskatchewan.

I have it was just a general comment that a good reason reilly retired is the pounding his body took and bc not in contender mode he was ill suited to be the lions 2022 qb being the pocket passer he is where needs that time a good o line brings so he could tee off for his mid range and long strikes that were too risky with the amount of hits he was taking in bc and as a older qb too.

Holy run-on sentence, Batman.

I was actually referring to this.

B.C. Lions’ quarterback) Nathan Rourke is going to be a star in this league and I’m not talking about three or four years from now – I’m talking about 2022. He’s always had the physical tools. Now look at how he improved every time he played last year. He’s a fast learner and he’s ready to take the reins if given the opportunity.

Yeah, it's clear that there is a tremendous amount of respect for Reilly among CFL players and coaches. I can't think of many others who have received this many accolades and compliments upon retiring.

Yes, he left as a free agent, but there were attempts to sign him to the last minute. He also took other key players with him. Everybody has a choice but the fans saw it that he led a charge to dismantle the team following the 2018 Grey Cup appearance. The fan base was not pleased with how this all came about, so they would not be pleased to see him back after perceived disloyalty as the supposed leader of the team and the hand picked successor to Henry Burris.

I have to admit I have no idea who this guy is but he sure is getting a lot of hype. Seems like a very well respected person in the sports business.

The CFL does not do well when they stray from local owners/executives etc. Even at his hiring, I knew the last guy in Edmonton would not fare well. That's why it's so great to have guys like Cui and Doman. Not only that but they actually shatter the racist D-I-E narrative by being the best guy for the job by their own competence.
