[Halifax] 2188 Gottingen Street | ? M | 9 FL | Proposed

The former Mackay-Llyons Sweetapple office buiding on Gottingen Street is up for redevelopment. The open development-only permit states:

"New construction of a mixed use multi unit residential building with commercial at grade level. 9 story structure with 142 apartment units and 6 grade oriented commercial units. 3 stories of below grade parking 94 parking spaces proposed."

I have no more information at this time.

I believe this proposal also encompasses the former Company House building to the north.

^ The permit is tied to four PID's

00155531 - 2178 Gottingen (DEN nightclub)
00155515 - 2188 Gottingen (MLS Architects offices)
00155507 - The Company House
00629691 - 2180 Gottingen (Dragon Ebikes)

~20'100 sg ft total

That's about half of the block length but with no corner lot.

Housing Accelerator Fund proposed changes for this site;

Quote:
• This request is to allow a change to built-form requirements.
• The current built form requirements were developed over many years of research and consultation with industry with the intent to provide as-right development path while providing for a pedestrian friendly environment.
• Staff are not recommending site-exemptions to built-form requirements at this time.
• The HAF proposes to increase tall-midrise typology from 9 storeys to 10 storeys.
