The Design Commission was unanimous in their approval for the Density bonus.

Chiming in...I like the 3 components...well not so much the parking podium, but it does blend in well, really like the office component, and the apartments above that are ok, pretty much what you'd expect. But all together, its a rather handsome building. A much squattier version of 6X giving the three distinct sections.

Moving right along. The demo permit is approved and the soil retention permit was filed today.

from the ABJ this morning....

“This is one more thing to check off the list,” said Will Marsh, principal at Endeavor. He added that the company is “serious” about breaking ground by the end of the year or early 2019 on the site......"

When it comes to getting shit built, Endeavor, Trammell-Crow and White Lodging are golden.

Endeavor started featuring this project on their website as "93 Red River".

Though it's not really in the heart of the Rainey Street District, more like the edge.

That's a good thing. If it was in the heart, half of Rainey would be gone.

Just walked by on lunch and there's no fencing up yet, though they have the perimeter lined with what looks like runoff protection.

That's what I saw too -- I only assumed it was going in at the same time as fencing.

So, since this one appears to be moving forward before any others, this is marking a notable milestone for Austin. 91 Red River will become Austin's 40th building over 300 feet tall. That includes everything on up to The Independent. 40 buildings over 300 feet in Austin. That will eclipse the total number of high rises that Corpus Christi and El Paso each have.

That's also double the number of buildings over 300 feet that San Antonio and Fort Worth have combined since they each have 10.

That Austin number only includes what buildings have been completed already, what is under construction and what has broken ground already. There are at least 16 more proposed over 300 feet that haven't started yet.

I must be missing one unless you're counting 300 Colorado. I have 35 on my list of completed/topped out buildings. Three additional ones that are underway would be Block 71, 501 Brazos and the Marriott. We then have this one and the Alexan that are good to go (as well as 300 Colorado.)

EDIT: I changed the name in the title to 93 Red River because Endeavor is using that as the name for marketing.

Yeah, I'm counting 300 Colorado. I haven't been by to see if they've started digging there yet, but they did do the demo already. I generically combine the two as being the same process. I just call it site prep.

A city permit for a tower crane was filed for 300 Colorado, and history (so far) indicates that a crane permit is a 100% go sign for a project. But I didn't count 300 Colorado because there has been a big pause between demo and site prep/construction. The site plan has been inactive for a long time. I think it's only because one floor was dropped from the original plans. But I'll feel better about it as soon as site prep resumes.

405 Colorado? Isn’t that close to breaking ground?
