This post has more to do with the 1,000 footer rather than the Quincy, but looking at the last picture where you can see the lot, it really shows that it's not that large of an area for the footprint. Pretty cool...

This one turned out to be a solid addition. It makes more of an impact than I expected it would at first, and the colors are quite nice albeit nothing special.

I was thinking about this one the other day... this is going to be done right around the same time as 84 east and Nativo. Which means within the next 8 months or so, we'll see at least another 2000-ish residents living on Rainey? And that number will only go way up if any of: (1) the two Travis buildings; (2) 80 Red River; (3) 90 Rainey; (4) River St. Residences; or (5) 48 east get built.

It will be wild to see how Rainey Street changes when over the course of the next 2-3 years, there could be at least 5-6k new residents within the same 1/4 mile radius, and easily more than double the number of people compared to what's there now...

Ziegler-Cooper has some new renderings. I hope that bridge over the river gets built by someone.

IIRC, this will have two retail/restaurant/commercial spaces on the ground floor, right? Essentially where each of those green walls still are?

I'd be surprised if it wasn't the very last thing, but I'm also looking forward to the art installation/mural that will go on the opposite side facing Rainey -- I really hope that idea didn't get forgotten...

We really need a bridge there - I 35 is a mess to get up and down and its really not super pleasant to be on as a pedestrian.

It would also be great if they could do something (art fence, anything) to make that crossing a bit more pleasant.

Not sure if it is all public yet, but the Waterloo Greenway masterplan details the bridge as part of Phase III. The MACC will update alot around that area of Waller creek. I'm sure the 3 future towers that cover those parts of the creek will take part in updating the gaps in between. As I was writing this I found the link that details dates and times. 2026 for the pontoon bridge.

I really want the pontoon part of the bridge to go away. Seems like a terrible idea.

I agree. Pontoons will completely block boat (and paddleboard, and kayak) traffic up and down the lake. Dislike.

I seem to remember the pontoon idea being a result of boat traffic. As in it could be moved out of the way during a regatta.

I used to like the idea of a pontoon bridge, but it just seems kinda small potatoes for Austin at this point. What happens if you're rowing near it? Turn around?

There is more than one way to build a pontoon bridge. There is no way that they'd build one that would hinder kayaking and whatnot.
