^I have to look at it again in person, but I'd argue that's a good use of excessive spandrel. I think I get what the architect was trying to accomplish with the thin spacing between vertical lines. It seems intentional, rather than a cheap-out. The high quality soffit is a clue that some thought was put into design.

That looks gorgeous. Not much flexibility in the living spaces, but it's beautiful.

The bathroom sink, however -- I love the black granite... pretty flashy, but I imagine it's pretty splashy as well.

The new headquarter of the CNESST (public agency) in Quebec City was completed last year and although its exterior is rather banal, I believe its atrium is worth mentioning here.

425 Viger Ouest - Montreal

Architect : Lemay
Architectural photos credit: Adrien Williams on Facebook

The project consisted in extending ten existing floors located on the North-East corner of a building dating back to 1910.

The building is now mostly occupied by the Montreal Google office.

Aalto rental tower on Quebec side of Zibi. The semi-basement level with the large window houses the District Energy plant that uses the Ottawa River and effluents from the nearby Kruger toilet paper plant to cool and heat the entire Zibi project.

Couple new building in Ottawa. One on Rideau and the other on King Edward.

Zibi's District Energy Plant is officially open for business. It will provide heat from the nearby Kruger Products Plant a few blocks away and cooling from the Ottawa River to the entire 44 buildings, 4-million square foot mixed-use project.

The District Energy Project, called the "Zibi Community Utility" (ZCU) is a collaboration between Zibi (Dream and Theia Partners), Kruger Products, Hydro Ottawa, Hydro Quebec, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the cities of Gatineau and Ottawa.

Good job on the reclad. Reminds me of True North Square. What it was before:

I just want to highlight some of the major city defining projects that Ottawa-Gatineau will see within a decade (2018-2028) if all goes to plan:

- Three new arenas (Slush Puppie, Civic Centre, Sens Downtown arena);
- A half new stadium (TD Place north stands);
- Two new major hospitals of 600+ beds (Civic and Gatineau);
- A new central library;
- Around 100 km of new urban rail (Ottawa Stage 1 and 2 + Gatineau tram);
- A dozen+ or so skyline defining new towers (Dow's Lake, Albert and Lyon, LeBreton and many more);
- A new riverfront urban district (Zibi)...

And so much more I'm sure I am forgetting. Truly a transformative decade for the region.

Very impressive. Sounds like Ottawa is being remade.

Nice little project in Ottawa's Mechanicsville neighbourhood, near Tunney's Pasture and Bayview O-Train stations.

I somehow missed it. That is pretty cool. I'm so used to basic, utilitarian designs for bus (and rail) yards.

Havergal College: Upper and Junior School Additions | 12.4m | 3s | Havergal College | Diamond Schmitt l complete

Honoured with an Ontario Wood Design Award this spring, the Havergal College addition has now won a Copper Award from North American Copper in Architecture (NACIA). Absolutely gorgeous.
