I live extremely close to this site. Until COVID, it never bothered me. Working from home all day has completely changed that. Maybe last week they were using some sort of air compressor for 6-8 hours straight, and it was completely unbearable. I’d never believe me if I didn’t experience myself, but trying to work with the noise was mentally distressing. Like 6 lawnmowers under my window without stop, all day. I saw some folks on twitter contacted Councillor McKenney about it, and fortunately they responded that they’d reach out to Claridge. It’s been pretty acceptable since.

And, on the other hand, its been real fun to watch these go up. I’m watching the crane come down as I type this. I think the towers fill a good gap, even if I wish they were a bit more interesting.

Looks like Claridge has rebranded the two towers as Loop by Claridge. There will be a courtyard which is shared between the two buildings, as well as a pool which is always nice for a rental. They are now taking lease applications but no occupancy date - just “opening soon” https://loop.claridgehomes.com

The wavy balconies are a nice touch and add some visual interest (which most Claridge products lack) but the black/greyish-yellow cladding seems to be a copy-paste from other projects and reminds me of a taller Lebreton...

At this stage we may actually end up with something that looks like the renders. I used to rent at Onyx and I remember being surprised that the final product actually looked like the renders that Claridge posted at a similar stage of the build (back in early 2019-ish).

The only issue with Onyx, however, was that the final product AND the renders were bland at best.

They will be 'quasi-wavy' like the balconies at Icon. They'll use the cheapest off the shelf flat glass panels.

Yeah and maybe the first time they cut costs when they got quotes but they certainly now know they won't be buying custom glass. It's good to see them building and people seem to continually do well buying their pre-sales. Unlike some other smaller and more boutique builders.

Its looking pretty good! In my opinion the railing on the balcony really adds to the look of the building. If the same railing is applied on the second tower which has more curved balconies, it should make for a pretty interesting look overall. Not a bad one for Claridge.

Behold: The power of covering a balcony slab edge. I commend Claridge on this one.

Now just so long as those white perforated panels don't start to rust (including the (hopefully) stainless steel bolts holding the thing together, or the one random screw that nobody thought about that'll leave a big brown streak.

I'm happy to have been wrong about the balconies on this one.

They did a good job on this one. I like the light grey brick and the balconies.

Looks really good. Bravo Claridge the good execution! Also a fan of the grey brick, which we don't see much of (but might pop-up on ALL Claridge buildings for the next 10 years to the point where we can't stand it anymore!!!!)

[QUOTE=Harley613;9261202]Definitely a nice surprise

I think the second tower facing Nepean street will look even more impressive after seeing what the balcony looks like on the tower facing Gloucester. The balconies are more interesting on that tower.

Good on Claridge for their awareness that the south tower facing the Nepean and the Queensway will be more visible than the north tower facing Gloucester and the CBD, hence the extra detailing. This project proves that they can plan and execute a good project when they really want to.
