Lol.

Playing 3 on 3 against McDavid, the outcome is almost a certainty.

Their momentum this entire season has been lacklustre. Couldn’t string 2 wins in a row for a month or two in March/April. They still made the playoffs though.

If anything, their momentum of late has improved. Considering they were without Price/Gallagher/Webber etc for the last little while, I’d say they did well.

By comparison, Vancouver has been abysmal these last 10 games. Calgary is .500, and Ottawa has been performing like a top 10 NHL team these last couple of weeks. If they manage to perform like that next season, they will be a tough team to beat.

Why do you have to say these things TSN? Going to end up being some brutal 7 game series just out of spite.

So that more people share and talk about it for exposure and clicks.

Also realized last night that Leafs/Habs haven't met in playoffs since 1979 and the last Leafs playoffs win versus Montreal was game six 1967.

Man wouldn't that be great.

I think Button might be right though.

We'd be lucky if we get a win or two against them. That's about it. The Leafs are just too good. Then again, the Habs have surprised quite a few analysts in the playoffs since the turn of the century, so you never know.

Haha. I don't think the Jets are going to take one against the Oilers. Could be a 4 game sweep here.

The two top teams are going into the playoffs strong and the bottom two are limping for sure. That being said, until the Leafs win their first playoff series since I was 11 I'm not taking anything as certain.

Toronto will win the first round because it's competition is so weak.
They are a big fish in Lake North division. But once the last Canadian team is released into the NHL Ocean that'll be it.

Meh, probably depends on goaltending. It's kind of the sad truth of today's NHL that you can do everything right building 95% of your team, but if your goalie doesn't go on a superhuman run during the playoffs you're still going to have a hard time. I think Toronto actually matches up pretty well with most of the top teams in the Eastern Division this year. I would mostly want to avoid Tampa, Vegas, and Colorado.

The question at this point is will it be a 4 game sweep where the games are at least somewhat close and competitive, or will it be 4 straight blowouts?

Playoff hockey is a crapshoot. Game changes and things tighten up. I'd imagine all the series are pretty competitive to some degree. Can't see either of the first round North division series being sweeps.

If the Jets play the Leafs they might win one to save face. There will not be any such luck against the Oilers I'm afraid. No amount of tight checking will overcome the unbelievable funk this team has found itself in.

Agreed that playoff hockey is a crapshoot. No result in the Northern Division would surprise me much.

Ottawa will trade all the great young talent away instead of paying them properly when the entry contracts expire. This has been Melnyk's mode for a while now.

Multiple Jets fans I know still have PTSD from the Oilers runs in the 80s.

Ok so then your wrong.

Case in point, McDavid against the Habs.
The first 3 or 4 games against them he was scoreless. If anything he’s the one that figured out the book on them. Either that or the Habs have gotten worse at the end of the season, especially in défense, with the loss of Webber, Petry, etc..

Both those arguments prove my point about the North division, regardless.

Habs are missing Gallagher, Price, Weber, Danault...

^yeah.

The playoffs begin only on the 19th. Hopefully most of these guys can return heathy by then. Pushing the Leafs to a game 7 would be great, but we’re going to need everyone healthy and playing well for that, and quite a bit of luck too.
