5+1s mean only a few dozen current projects maybe, and a few dozen more planned?

Some neighborhoods have several apiece within a golf shot radius, like the U District, Ballard, and West Seattle Junction. Not to mention greater-Downtown areas like Capitol Hill / Pike/Pine.

I was kind of thinking the same thing, that this may be a bit of a high cut-off to keep a seperate thread running. Most larger cities that have downtown high-rise threads, have a "general" thread, too, that basically picks up on smaller stuff, and even those tend to be very slow without a height limit. It also allows you to post important transit/infrastructure projects and such that might not be picked up in high-rise threads.

LMich, I'm not suggesting that the cutoff is wrong. If every multi-unit or commercial project was posted it would be in the hundreds, so if folks want a limit it makes sense to me.

We do have a lot of 45' zoning though, not just 65'....maybe anything over 50,000 sf or 50 units could get an exemption. Major transportation projects too.

Isn't the Downtown thread only highrises? Maybe this one covers lowrises regardless of location. We get a lot of six-story construction on the Downtown fringes.

I thought we'd have a decent amount of stuff without being overwhelmed to post at 5 floors given that even apodment projects are now usually around 5 floors. I did include Sound transit projects but I'll clarify the rule in the first post. I also set a boundary (see first post) that I thought was reasonable for being "non-downtown" proper. My thinking was that if you have to climb a hill and/or cross something (water/freeway...) then that could reasonably be non-downtown. We can relax the limits if we don't get enough stuff. Let me know if you think this works.

Sounds good. If you define Downtown pretty tightly it would be just the core highrise zone anyway. Pike/Pine, Belltown, etc., can easily be non-Downtown.

mSeattle, this is not within the parameters of your forum but it is an indirect result of all the construction going on in Seattle.........that is, the taking out of mothballs several elementary schools in order to meet the demands of a growing student population

This is Fairmont Park elementary in W. Seattle. I drove by it this weekend. Its being reopened and expanded:

Here's an article about the expansion:

http://westseattleblog.com/2012/09/f...ore-reopening/

MSeattle, if you want to delete, I understand but I think this reopening of schools is big news.

Alki, I'm not going to be too fanatical about comments here or there. I also don't want to be the only one bringing info/renderings to this thread. I can't know every project that's going on in the city. I hope you guys feel free to post stuff and point me to things.

I agree, this is great news.

Here's a recent completion worth noting

And this one is nearing completion, but I'm not convinced it's actually in Seattle... Looks too good.

Seasky, you're welcome.

Here's another one nearing completion: 10th & Union on Capitol Hill. A project is u/c across the street in the background.

This shot shows a project u/c at 11th & Union (left foreground) as well as a mid-block on the right between Pike & Union (right), and a topped out project in the back right at 11th & Pine.
This is a renewed neighborhood.

That's the first I've seen of the Bedrooms & More proposal. Looks great - A nice entry to the neighborhood and a great scale for future buildings. Also nice to see a neighborhood business doing so well.
