Yeah not sure how that comment was a burn to the Oilers considering we acquired Lucic.

Shit, the Oilers are the only team that would give that guys any sort of decent minutes lol.
Kassian had 15 goals last year, hardly useless. And I call BS on the "if he hit him first", has Tkachuk ever "stood up" to Doughty after his greasy elbow? Don't think so. Doughty challenged him, Tkachuk wussed out as usual. Is Doughty a useless plug? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fxz9gKrTGyM

This is the problem with Tkachuk, most of the time, he goes out and does his job and puts up a ton of points. Great, that's what he's paid to do. What gets him no respect and has guys like Kassian going after him is when he's been dishing out cheap shots on star players. Tougher, usually larger, guys challenge him and he pretends like he's just there to play hockey. Give me a break

Yeah, should be some good battles this coming season, can't wait for that first game! Doesn't Tkachuk need a contract first before he can get us Oiler fans riled up?

Sounds like Puljarvi will not report to Oilers training camp and will stay in Finland till he's traded to another NHL team.

Good. What a pile of crap. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but he was slow, lumbering, uninspired and useless.

I won't disagree but the Oilers' development plan for him was horrible. As in they didn't have one. What a waste of a resource.

I believe puljujarvi was misquoted and he said he wouldn't come back to NA without a contract. Either way, Columbus and Jarmo look pretty good with that reach for Dubois now.

Elect George

Hope the good people of Nova Scotia do us Flames fans a solid and elect George Canyon. I really don’t want to hear another country rendition of O Canada by the jaw that walks, good person that I’m sure he is.

I actually don't mind his version of Oh Canada, it's unique and it's not some Pavarotti wannabe.

NHLPA elects not to reopen CBA so league will play through until 2022 with current CBA.

I can't remember the last time I've been this disinterested in the start of the hockey season. A year of nothing but contract talks for the Leafs and we're likely in no better position to actually beat the Bruins in the playoffs.

Dubas was partially a victim of bad timing as league dynamics have shifted drastically in the last 3-4 years and the Leafs apparently drafted the 3 kids who were each determined they were going to spearhead the RFA revolution. Partial credit goes to the Toronto media for not shutting up about contracts for 2 years and inflating player values. Still, to not win on a single negotiation when Boston manages to sign someone like McAvoy to an actually reasonable bridge deal is not a good look.

If Marner has a slow start to the season I fear for his well-being.

My expectations for the Jets this year are very low as they now literally have an AHL defense.

Could the Jets be the fallback team of the year? Canucks have decent depth now, at both forward and defense. Could be surprise team of the year.

The defensive depth will take a hit when one of your top pair d-men (cough cough Myers) goes out with a long term injury by Halloween.
