9 story Project Slugger (First National Bank Building) in Greensboro and the city deck that will provide parking for a planned 12-story AC Hotel, 20- story office tower and 6 story apartments that will surround the deck.

Thanks for sharing urbanscraper. I have been catching up a little on Greensboro and it seems pretty nice... it also seems that its downtown is flanked by colleges in almost ever direction.

Do you think that Greensboro leverages them well and the city's location?
Does being a smaller city in-between Raleigh and Charlotte hurt it or, is the city able to benefit from them?

I think Greensboro does leverage them well. Greensboro's location between Charlotte and Raleigh can be both a blessing and a curse. It really depends.

Btw here is downtown Greensboro's newest attraction. Bourbon Bowl. Eat, Drink and Roll! A local developer rehabbed a building in the South End Historic district. He is the same developer who built a similar bowling alley outside of downtown Greenville, SC called "Stone Pin"

Currently it is the last phase of the project. The first phase is a 12-story AC Hotel. Construction should begin on that the latter half of the year. Then midrise apartments will follow. There is no set date for the 20-story office tower.

Thanks, side note: I’m in Charlotte, but find downtown Greensboro more interesting. Skyline ain’t everything.

The new Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. With 3,000 seats it is the largest performing arts center in the Carolinas. I went and saw the Broadway show Wicked tonight.

Here is what the Carroll South of the Ballpark development would look like in its location. It will consist of a 20 story office tower, 12-story AC Hotel (behind office tower not visible in rendering) and apartments

Greensboro downtown development

Lofts @110 MLK (corner of South Elm Street) 140 apartments, retail and rooftop dining. Construction could start later this year.

Carroll Ballpark South

Apartments, retail, AC Hotel and conference space. The office component has been scraped.

In addition 10 new restaurants will be opening downtown due to the traffic of people coming to the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. Two other apartment complex are in the works and the Hampton Inn and Suites will be opening next month.

What a shame that the office high-rise was scraped Let's hope they reconsider and add a high-rise portion in this project.

Here is an updated rendering of Carroll Ballpark South with the AC Hotel and apartments. Definitely an improvement and groundbreaking is slated for early 2023. While it won't include a tall office tower the hotel does add a little more height to this area of downtown being between 10 and 11 stories tall.

Also photo update of Westin Greensboro construction. After the deck is complete, the hotel will rise on top of the deck early spring.
