With the podium already built, it makes even more sense.

I'd put a lot of money on EAP being the first new office tower to go ahead in Calgary, and a slightly less amount on it occurring within the next year.

I'm surprised this wasn't posted here. An awesome shot from the Calgary Construction thread:

I agree it is one of my favorites, better than the Bow. (I know I'll hear about that) I love how much more proportionate width to height. The Bow, way too massive. Now if we can see a few more of these (EAP), things will be looking good.

while i will admit that it is pretty looking building, i would also say that it would be like comparing a nice looking Timex watch to a $50,000 Rolex. the parts that sum them up just don't compare. the bow has waaay more parts. Eight Ave Place is a really nice big skyscraper; however, the Bow is its superior in so many ways. you cant just look at the shell and compare here. The bow has far to much going on for that type of comparison. it needs to be compared with the best in the world. well...... maybe Timex was a bit harsh, but you get the idea.

Ya, you're right. The Bow is supior in more ways than I'll mention, my biggest thing with the Bow was it's width compared to height. But it's starting to grow on me! I like the Devon Energy in OKC. I'd like to see Calgary get a couple of 850 footers.

Is EAP finished? It looks like it's mostly done.

I love the lighting scheme. Sometimes understated is better.

I couldn't agree more. My favorite lighting of any building is the Chrysler tower. Not exactly understated, but simple and elegant.

Major construction is finished, there is probably work still going on to get some floors ready for tenants. There are already quite a few occupied floors being used.

Whoo hoo!! Phase 2 is a go! Simply amazing how these beautiful office towers just keep on being built in this wonderful city! CALGARY RULES!!!!

The second phase of the massive Eighth Avenue Place downtown office development is moving forward.

The owners of the project, which currently has a 49-storey tower, say construction on a 40-storey second tower will begin in January with initial occupancy planned for the spring of 2014.
