I'll go into full manic mode if they add a spire. Yeah this one tower that really needs it. Tallest tower in the city by roof (and in all of the West for that matter), and a non exciting roof/crown per say.

Unfortunately a flue pipe.

It's too bad they couldn't relocate the spire from 4 Times Square to this tower. I think the spire looks awful on 4 Times Square and the skyline looks too busy with needle spires over there from certain angles.

^ Ha, from this angle the NYC skyline looks a bit like Chicago's as viewed from the Adler Planetarium.

That's actually an antenna though, so it would not add to the structural height.

I think he was referring to how the tower looks, and not it's height. In that case, it wouldn't matter if it were technically a part of the height or not, which is my view on it.

Developer Unveils First Model Unit in the World’s Tallest Residential Tower

BY BILL CARY
JULY 20, 2020

Quote:
The first apartment in the tallest residential tower in the world, a fully decorated model unit on the 43rd floor of the new Central Park Tower on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown Manhattan, is now on the market and available for viewing.

Developer Extell Development Company partnered with the interior design firm Pembrooke & Ives to design and furnish Residence 43C. The interiors of the tower, also known as the Nordstrom Tower, were designed by Rottet Studio.

“We wanted to bring different textures and tones and experiences throughout the unit,” said Extell’s Joaquin Stearns. This is the only model unit at the 179-unit, 131-floor tower on West 57 Street so far.

“We’re slated to complete the building by the end of the year,” with closings beginning in Q1 2021, he said. “It feels like we’re close to the end, which is very exciting.”
Quote:
Residence 43C is one of “seven different kinds of three-bedrooms” that range from $9 million to just under $20 million, Mr. Stearns said.

The apartment wraps around the northeast and south corners of the tower, with direct Central Park views, he said. “You can see as far as Connecticut on a good day.”

Architectural highlights include 11-foot ceilings and seven-foot-wide floor-to-ceiling glass panels that highlight the views and flood the apartment with natural light.

Stats

The 3,401-square-foot condo has three bedrooms, three full bathrooms and one partial bathroom.

Amenities The tower will offer 50,000 square feet of luxury services and amenities on the 14, 16 and 100 floors, Mr. Stearns said.

The Central Park Club will feature a private ballroom and dining room as well as a wine bar and cigar lounge. The seven-story Nordstrom flagship store occupies seven floors in the base of the building.

Brilliant.

Lady Chrysler's almost hidden, 53W53/TV looks completely melded with 432 Park, and the CondéNast/BofA-1Vandy-30Huddy ob deck are offering a collective salute to the King of High Rises....
