This is my first thread. I’d like to share some photos I’ve taken over the last few years in and around the Quad Cities. The primary cities included here are Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa and Moline and Rock Island in Illinois. I hope you enjoy.
arguably illinois #2 MSA even though part of it is in iowa (the illinois side of st. louis doesn't function as an "illinois city" at all). seems like it has more going on than peoria, or at least a little healthier.

in all, does it feel more like an "iowa" region or "illinois" region? though i know the mississippi valley fairly well so i think i know the answer...i'd guess that it primarily feels like an upper mississippi valley river region standing apart from the cities "out" on the prairie to the east and the west.

It feels more like an Iowa region to me. Downtown Davenport and Moline are definitely healthy. I would think that someone visiting from out of town would be surprised by the amount of independent businesses, restaurants/microbrews, etc. Bettendorf will see a lot of improvement when the new I-74 bridge is complete and Rock Island is slowly gaining momentum.
Helluva initial photo thread. Great variety of subjects and moods. I spent a couple of days there in Spring of 2013. Each city has its own feeling. Thanks for the tour.

What a trip down memory lane! My father was the Commander of Rock Island Arsenal in the 80s and we lived just down the street from this house, Quarters 1.
