BELO HORIZONTE | Andradas Complex | 350m | 1,148 feet | 85 fl

The project of Andradas Complex is developed by FarKasVölGyi Architecture Company. All images below belongs to that company for reserved rights. Belo Horizonte has approximately five million and a half people in metro area, one of the most populous metro areas in Americas. This project was contracted by the PHV Engenharia Construction Company with part of the terrain being acquired for the complex, an area of 15.000,00 m² (161,458 ft²). Works have already started in that particular terrain. The other part is under advanced discussions now with the local area citizens, the neighborhood of Santa Tereza, close to the center of the town. There’s a possibility of the supertall hosts the new administrative center of the major town. Works can be finished in 2020 and the estimated cost for the complex is around US$ 886 million. The multiple use complex will count with one futurist style supertall with 350 meters (1148 feet), also known as BH Tower, and two skyscrapers, Andradas Complex Hotel Towers 1 and 2, with 100 meters (328 feet) each one. The total area of the complex is 450,000.00 m² (4,843,759 ft²). International investors can supply the resources to cover the project costs, that includ the retrofit of two buildings to become the hotels, probably the first phase of the works, due the 2014's World Cup games that will happen in the city.

According to this passage:
... the partnership between the architecture firm Farkasvölgyi Engineering and PHV is already making progress with the construction project.

A part of terrain was acquired last year is particular and PHV Company is working there.

This will be the terrain of the complex, the total area, with 1 supertall, 2 hotels, 1 arena for 40,000 people and one conventions center.

All the complex will be built in the Boulevard Arrudas, in the neighborhood of Santa Tereza.

This map can show better the positions of the buildings:

It was not even approved by Belo Horizonte Administration yet. The 100 page thread at SSC Brasil, with TONS of news links and people from Belo Horizonte still has tons of doubt about the approval of the skyscraper. The Andradas Complex has more buildings, it seems the lower buildings were approved. Approval for the tallest one still wasn´t given, maybe not even investors.

I was thinking the same thing. The complex may very well be under construction, but it's not clear the actual tower is anywhere near a sure thing. If it had, it would have been a national (and maybe even international) event.

well, Balneário Camboriu has some 250+ (even 300m) towers approved and some u/c and it was not a national (and even less international) event.

but at least at SSC we DO have info about such things. If nobody at SSC Brasil (including over 100 Belo Horizonte forumers) heard it was approved, it wasn´t

Taken pictures of the andradas complex's area

Hi everybody, the Andradas Complex’s terrain seems to be being prepared to receive the works, but the construction really did not start yet. In these photos bellow, I saw the empty lots and some signals of demolitions. All photos were obtained in my last visit to BH in november 16th, 2013. I walked in the terrain and I could see some ill conserved structures too. But the photos also give us some hints of the stage of the project: It will depend on BH's prefecture approval to change to U/C status. There’s another point: The Dias Village inside of Santa Tereza’s neighborhood, a poor community located in a part of the area of the future complex. I read about the discussion of the Dias Village in the Town Hall of Belo Horizonte. The Village habitants created a movement to resist against a possible demolition. It was calling "Stay Dias Village". But it can be solved with investors' indirect indemnity. Well, let’s go show the photos:

There is also a revitalization project led by the prefecture called "New BH". This promises to revitalize vast area, including the construction of skyscrapers and supertall. If the New BH urban project is approved, the complex will be easier of become reality.

It seems that the project will change. Due to some characteristics of Prefecture's New BH's project, some buildings were maintained in the Santa Tereza neighborhood. The subway station would be revitalized by the city and would not be integrated into the Andradas Complex project, according to the document below.

According to local media in Belo Horizonte the original project was canceled. But it is not known what will be done on site and that it will keep the name, since the construction company did not deny that it will build the project changed his ground. When Brazilian SSC forumers await the release of the new multi-purpose project for that area.

Quote:
It will not be this time that Belo Horizonte will be the tallest skyscraper in Latin America. Launched with fanfare in 2012, the giant tower project will only be on paper. According to found the These Days before the barriers of law and seeking greater economic viability, mining PHV Engineering and Farkasvölgyi office glass building mastermind of 350 meters spread over 85 floors, abandoned the original idea and already draw a B plan for the area along the avenue of Andradas.

Under the new draft, the project will be diluted in a main building and two smaller buildings. But if the highest tower of Latin America comes out, comes into play the highest skyscraper in Brazil, with 240 meters and 60 floors. The intention is that two towers are commercial and the third facing flats and apartments long stay of one or two bedrooms.

According to Farkasvölgyi office informed by note, one of the justifications for change would be that it is easier to sell 50 thousand square meters in each of the towers than 150,000 square meters in just a tower.

The new proposal also includes the possibility of transforming 90% of the private area in a public square, which give preference to concepts of sustainability and urban kindness. So, besides being an area of contemplation and landscaping, the space would serve as a link between the metro, the neighborhood Santa Tereza and the surrounding Boulevard Shopping, which today is hampered by the railway line. "This contribution coming from the private sector is much more relevant than the height of the tower," says Farkasvölgyi architect's office that bears his surname in a statement.

For the work to become a reality, however, the Municipal City Council must approve the project as joint urban operation, a partnership between the government and the private sector.

The forecast architectural firm is that it is still approved in 2015. However, the advice of the House said there is no sense in this project currently processing. Already the press office of the Municipal Urban Development Secretariat reported that there is no news on the enterprise in terms of licensing.

The PHV, through a spokesperson, said by a market-absorbing reading the new "Andradas Complex project is still under development and should be adjusted to final validation."
