A reception was held in the Salt Building for Prince Charles and Lady Camilla on Saturday November 7th as part of their tour of the Olympic Village and Vancouver.

The "White Bulding" features, without a doubt, the most beautiful pieces of architectural lighting I have ever seen. Here one of the Olympic Village's founding architectural principles, that of external staircases that act as "vertical streets", has yielded genuine pieces of art.

beautiful shots SFU! thanks for sharing.

i;m surprised the city installed that fence (3rd pic from the top) around the wall centre site. seems elaborate for a temporary fence.

Great photos SFU! The staircases are excellent!

I have a feeling the Salt building will become a Vancouver icon of sorts. Prominent, recognizable, simple, unique, cheerful and the focal point of the neighborhood.

I have been away for 2 weeks touring the Stratford OV!

I had seen what many of you had wrote about the Vancouver OV and the cost overruns, and most of you hit it on the head.

I cant wait to return home and see the final product.

Durante Kreuk, landscape architects for the Olympic Village development, were playful in their approach to green roof design. In this aerial view of the rooftops of the Olympic Village, plants were placed into shapes showing motifs of Olympic athletes playing hockey, curling and competing at luge. The Olympic athlete figures are created with different plant types, colours and textures, and are outlined within a metal border.

Drove over the Cambie Bridge tonight - there was a steady stream of steam coming from one of the five stacks of the SEFC Energy Centre. No sign of any LEDs though.

they'll be attached within a month, once the commissioning of the plant is complete...the lights will be tuned to reflect the temperature being called for in the plant (less demand for heat, summer, are cool colours, warmer, for more demand...[peak loads and winter)

Just wait till it is all lit up. Would certainly make a case for more lighting in the right districts in and around downtown.
