Wow great shots Harry. That is some involved engineering running the flyover through those bridge houses. The initial timeline for the project was always unrealistic imo.

I think it should be called "ring of fire"

That's the nickname we used to give to a certain pork shoulder sandwich we'd eat at 3 am back in the old days after a night of drinking and partying. That sandwich was so damn spicy that next day when you went to the bathroom you'd experience a "ring of fire" in your......well you get the idea

This sculpture is great. The Chicago fire should make something like this their new logo. A "C" made of flames would be far better than their new lame logo.

Pretty incredible the team is even called Fire in the first place. Notice how they don't play the SF Quakes, New Orleans Floods or the Dallas Assassins?

Chicago embraces the great Chicago fire and how the city rebuilt itself and what it became in the aftermath like no other city and unfortunate event combination I can think of. Chicago even has a star on its flag commemorating it.

Actually, the bay area's MLS team is named the San Jose Earthquakes.

Re: the great fire. my great-great-great grandparents lost their home to the fire and lived with their young family in a literal shack cobbled together from fire debris until their home could be properly rebuilt. The story of their resilience is passed down as a point of pride from generation to generation in our family.

Thinking about what they went through, and how they survived it, helps put my family's current "struggles" into perspective, and gives me hope. Yeah, we currently have no income other than unemployment, but at least we have a home to call home in a city that isn't utterly decimated.

In fact, next year will mark the 150th anniversary of the great fire.

I don't know if i'm out of place but sorry about your struggles. You seem like a very solid and moral person. I am sure you will prevail.

2700 N Pine Grove: Looks like they are basically going to save some of the exterior and plop a midrise building on the rest of the site.

At least the exterior is being preserved. Otherwise that would be quite a loss
