2010 Wish List

Make 10 wishes that you would like to see happen in 2010 for the City of Hamilton. You don't have to make 10 wishes. This time next year I'll go over all of your wishes, to see if your wishes were granted or not. Try to be realistic though.

1. Metrolinx approves for LRT for the B-Line, province includes B-Line in the 2010 Budget
2. A good challenger against Mayor Fred. Our city deserves better than a mediocre mayor and a competitive mayoral race
3. Stadium located at the waterfront, NOT the Airport
4. Somehow the School Board stays in downtown Hamilton
5. Some fresh new faces at City Council, especially from Lower Hamilton wards
6. More blue collar jobs in downtown Hamilton
7. NHL discuss a plan to include a new hockey franchise in Canada, specially Hamilton
8. Reconstruction of the Tivoli theatre takes place
9. The Connaught gets redeveloped somehow
10. Funding for redevelopment of the "Foot of James" proposal, ready before 2015 Pan Am Games

1. Some kind of deal to either restore the Royal Connaught as a hotel or redevelop it as mixed-use market rate units happens.

2. A decision in favor of LRT, at least an East-West line to begin.

3. A very important development is proposed and approved on James North, to commence construction immediately. (something like the proposed but pretty much dead condo project at Acclamation)

4. Something big name comes to Jackson Square or an otherwise big news project is announced.

5. Hamilton NHL team, at least a firm decision or franchise rights achieved.

6. Tivoli Theatre gets some major restoration/construction work started by the end of 2010. Lyric Theatre gets the same. Half point each.

7. Some kind of important development somewhere along the "Barton Village", including proposals pre-2010. (NOT including a hospital parking lot)

8. 24 hour service somewhere in the HSR system at least gets a trial period or serious announcement. OR later service introduction for a half point.

That's all I have, I can't make it an even 10 right now.
