It's west of the split, because the pink building is the old Sub Stop and is one intersection west of where Broadway and West End converge there by Beaman Toyota and the other dealerships.

I made this basic mock-up in sketchup. So it will be positioned like this? I thought it was going to go all the way to the split, but I saw on the render there is a parking garage in between the building and the split.

BTW. Am I the only one loving Google Earth's update for Nashville? Now loading SketchUp models into Google Earth looks so much better.

"JetBlue is returning to Nashville, airport officials announced Tuesday morning.
The low-cost airline will launch two nonstop routes out of Nashville International Airport (BNA) in spring 2016. The airline will begin twice-daily nonstop service to Boston and daily nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale."

JetBlue had a short stint in Nashville from 2006-2008 when it left, along with other cities it departed, such as Columbus. Nashville Int'l is growing, after adding Alaska Airlines to Seattle starting in September and other airlines adding new destinations and also increasing aircraft sizes, namely United earlier this month.

I just hope they reinstate the direct flights they used to have between DC and Nashville. They had flights in/out of DC National and Dulles. I really like JetBlue as well. Comfortable planes, they don't nickel and dime you like some of the other airlines and they are competitive. In recent years I've flown them to Florida and Puerto Rico. Really enjoyed each flight. Nashville should push for being a hub since they don't have a hub in the southeast outside of Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale. A hub in Nashville could centrally serve the Southeast and Midwest.

It will be a 12 story residence on Chet Atkins Place in the Music Row area. The area is zoned for 10 stories, but the Charlotte developers, Terwilliger & Pappas, want to increase to 12.

Wow, that really puts into perspective the sheer volume of development happening around town. Basically, Midtown Nashville...JUST Midtown Nashville...is adding what is more or less the equivalent of the downtown of a midsized city over the next few years in terms of sheer square footage.

The building on the Turnberry site is now vacant and demo should happen fairly soon.

Demo equipment is now on site for the Skyhouse Nashville on Broadway.

First crane base is in place for Bridgestone North America HQ in SoBro.

Three high rises to begin construction in next couple of months.

The Turnberry development has relocated tenants from existing buildings, cleared out asbestos according to sources and will begin demolition soon. Both buildings are to be built together, again according to the same sources.



And the Skyhouse has already begun demolition. Knowing the reputation of these developers, this should go up fast.



That's 35 story, 25 story and 22 story buildings to add to the skyline.

Twelve story office building proposed for Mid-Town

The rendering is mine and reflects no inside knowledge as to the actual design. It is intended to give a sense of scale and location relative to downtown. The light blue sketched structure represents the proposed building.

This is 30 blocks from downtown and near several other completed 12 to 10 story buildings which serve to create a continuous 35 block long skyline for Nashville along the West End/Music Row corridor.

Eleven Story Home Office for Lifeway proposed..

Lifeway, formerly the Southern Baptist Convention, has sold off it's 'uptown' campus and will relocate its administrative staff to a new 11 story office building in the SoBro area of downtown on a lot currently owned by the City. This diagram is not an official rendering, but rather something I did to show the location and scale of the project.

SoBro is exploding with growth and this project will add to the growing density and demand for retail services.

This rendering does not include at least seven other mid-rise buildings proposed for this area.

re: the two comments about mundane and relatively more or less the same building as the one down the block, i have tried to make that point to those who are interested in the business district, south main, and the downtown medical center. the trouble---memphis officials select 4 or 5 memphis firms, and about 10 to 20% of that range has to be given to minority firms. i think it is a good thing to give some of the work to those firms qualified to take on the work, complex or simple, but after 6 or 7 years passes, you begin to see the same situation that occurs in the suburbs w/ cookie cutter office, retail, and rental, condo, and on and on. i'm tired of seeing the same mid-western look or a bastardized frank lloyd wright structure, although i didn't like much of what he put out anyway.

again, regardless of a six, five, 10, 18, 30 story building, if the firm that draws the blueprints, they get by using the same plans over and over, while making tremendous profits for their work, and even larger profits, when the clients go back to the table to ask for, what they assume is customized work, but it just comes from another city, in many cases. the proposed hilton in downtown south main is almost an exact replica of a hotel in d.c.

so, i agree w/ your statements. there is one firm in memphis that had planned to construct a 12 story condo that has only one condo per floor. it is really a great look, and it breaks the eye from so much of the late 19th and 20th century buildings. however, as usual, the planning committee wanted wanted it reduced to 6 stories. in addition to that, a different material was used for the outside shell. i still would like to see this modern take on one of the downtown sections, but take it up to 18-20 stories.

just keep screaming until people begin to see the same building throughout the city.

The Tennessean reported that the property at 1212 Broadway which is currently a Mazda dealership will be demolished and a mix use project will be built in its place. Speculation has Austin, TX real estate developer Endeavor Real Estate Group as the buyer of the property. The company’s projects include The Bowie, a 36-story mixed use tower in Austin with 358 luxury rental units, 41,000 square feet of office space and 3,890 square feet of restaurant space.

Sounds like they are primarily looking at developing a heavily oriented retail site first. It may have office, hotel or residential as an after thought.

Endeavor expects soon to begin more active conversations to attract retailers to its planned mixed-use project. Grocery stores, restaurants, fitness-related businesses such as a gym, spin-class, yoga or a bike shop, a coffee shop and other retail with a heavy emphasis on fashion are examples of the type of tenants that could help to activate that part of 12th Avenue, Alam said.

“We believe a retail anchor will pull the retail experience along 12th Avenue from the South Gulch up to Broadway, and will encourage pedestrian-friendly redevelopment of some of the underutilized properties in-between the South Gulch and Broadway,” he said, citing also increased foot traffic from more people walking between Midtown and downtown.

Of all the major developments in Nashville, one key component that has been missing is major retail in the core. There's not much in terms of everyday retail and grocery competition and that should change in time.

Turnberry has purchased the site for this project. A poster on UP is also reporting that the demo permit has been issued for this Friday for the site. However, the shorter office tower has now been scrapped.
