Some photos of the new additions to Maverik Stadium at USU.

The new building added around 40 luxury suites, all of which sold out (40k a suite), as well as around 700 clubs seats, which have also sold out (around 1300 per seat per year). The top floor included a new press box.

Additionally, a new super-large scoreboard was added, as well as renovated concessions and concourses.

^Yeah, the eastside is the students mostly, the westside is the higher-paying season ticket holders. The eastside could use some upcoming renovations.

New hotel has been approved for downtown Logan. Doesn't look much better than the Hilton hotel built at the Junction in Ogden recently to be honest. But it's exciting for the downtown in the sense that nothing new has been built there in a long time (aside from city buildings). Maybe this can start momentum.

So this would be next to the city library I assume, where the good year is? I would expect Logan to force them to keep with the brick look the city has tried to go with along that part of main. Really if they do Hampton Inn stucco here it will screw with the look of the historic buildings across the street.

Now looking at the pic, there is brick but it's not the right color for that area. Everything is a darker red brick look. Plus the stucco color is wrong for the area, should be a white look to match the buildings it will be around. But it's right up on the curb which is great.

I like the brick shown in the Hampton rendering, but not the beige stucco area under the cornice, especially on the corner. Would be better if they followed the pattern of some of its neighbors. Doesn't have to be elaborate, just a little more appropriate element detailing.

This is Snake Person Tower, rising near USU. One of the larger (if not largest) residential projects I've seen go up in Cache Valley. I believe it's six floors high in some areas.

USU announces Life Sciences Building plans

Later this month, Utah State University will break ground on a Life Sciences Building, a facility the school has wanted to build for years to address the problem of not having enough laboratory classroom space to meet student demand.

The ground breaking will be at 1 p.m. April 25, according to a USU news release that came out Monday. The building will be located in the spot of the former Peterson Agricultural Sciences Building, south of the Biology and Natural Resources building and north of Eccles Conference Center. That spot has been a grassy patch ever since the Peterson building was torn down after the Agricultural Sciences Building on the quad was erected in 2012.

The Life Sciences Building should be complete by January of 2019.

The USU Life Sciences Building is going to be 103,000 square feet, with a basement and four above-ground levels. It will house the department of biology, 13 teaching laboratories, a lecture hall, research laboratories and student study spaces.

The Vivint campus in Logan will attract and develop talent in sales, strategic business development, entrepreneurship, customer service and product research and development.

“As the leading smart home services provider, we are constantly pursuing opportunities for growth and innovation,” said Alex Dunn, president at Vivint Smart Home. “We look forward to tapping into the strong business and engineering talent of the Utah State University community and contributing to Utah’s growth as a tech hub.”

The 43,000-square-foot building will house up to 400 employees and includes a demo home equipped with a Vivint smart home system, a full-size basketball court, fitness center and six training rooms, including a technical training room and a hands-on product training room.

USU's innovation campus is seeing a nice boom. In addition to the Vivint building mentioned, there's a new Space Dynamics Lab, and now another company has broken ground there:

Inovar has been located at its current headquarters at 1073 W. 1700 North, Logan, at least since the early 2000s and some 350 employees work there now, according to company officials.

The new Inovar facility, at 100,000-square-feet, will be able to keep up with the company’s growth of employees and meet the company’s customer demands in military, defense, aerospace and medical — fields Inovar produces circuit boards for. The new facility is expected to be complete in May of 2018.

Hi all, it's been a while. Quick update on a few projects that I think have been missed.
Here's the newest Conservice building in River Heights. It opened in either late 2016 or early 2017.





And here's the two new high schools, Ridgeline and Green Canyon. RHS is in Millville, and GC is in North Logan. (Both schools are the same design).





When I get the chance, I'll try and take some pictures of the new hotel in downtown, the new apartment buildings going up near USU, and any other projects I come across.

Quick side note on the new hotel: I'm not sure how I feel about a generic hotel brand like that being put into the center of downtown, but I have to say that I like the feeling of density that it is already bringing to that intersection. It's taller than a lot of the buildings around it, and I'm hopeful that it will inspire some other downtown projects.
