^^I can't get over how ORH STILL looks like the second tallest building in town.

I was just looking at it shortly before your posting. It's only from certain angles, especially Potrero Hill. From my place, it doesn't look as tall as 181 Fremont or 555 California, though it is certainly prominent. During its construction, there was endless discussion about how tall the building actually is and how tall it appears on the skyline. I usually say it shows as 741 feet, though others think it's more like 705.

From SoMa, Mission Bay, Potrero Hill it appears as an 800 ft tower. Huge impact on the skyline for something that isn't all that visually appealing (isn't awful either).

I think the two ORH towers look good viewed side by side, but not from the west and agree with you.

Me too. Sorry, I couldn't resist...

Anyway, the days are counting for the next jump up for the crown. Will this be the topping off of Salesforce Tower? Will it be sometime next week?

Yeah. Treasure Island, parts of Oakland, and Bay Bridge riders have by far the best view of San Francisco. Specifically everything in Rincon Hill seems to have been positioned for that angle, and the view from the rest of SF was an afterthought. Even when I lived near Lone Mountain, ORH was extremely prominent.

I've been monitoring the progress of Salesforce Tower in a few different ways - but my favorite has been from street level. It's been cool to watch it grow skyward. Forgive me for posting too many pictures - this is my first post here.

A few highlights:

August 22, 2016 (just a little baby!):

October 26, 2016 (my, how it has grown):

December 14, 2016:

February 1, 2017:

February 28, 2017:

Bonus shots (from above the bay - will take another round in a couple of months) - December 22, 2016:

Also - I have been loving the appearance of the cranes as imaginary spires in my mind. They give the tower a very Chicago look that I really like. It'll be a cool building without spires, but I'm enjoying the cranes while they last.

Trust me: Never too many pictures, especially when they are as good as yours. I'm fairly new myself but I think no one will complain if I say, "Welcome and keep snapping."

Thankfully, Salesforce Tower looks the same from all sides.
There have been many discussions about seeing the backside of buildings from the City, the worst I think being 45 Lansing. Prior to that, it was the Intercontinental Hotel. Now it has shifted to the Oceanwide thread.

Yeah I was going to say the same thing. One of the best features of Pelli's design is that it's almost identical from all angles.

At least Oceanwide center has that diamond formation on the western end too.

It compliments the Transamerica Pyramid very nicely on the skyline.

Cladding Problem?

What's going on with the cladding? The last 5-10 floors seem to be full of missing panels of glass. Wondering if it's a manufacturing problem, design problem or delivery/installation problem with glass breaking or falling out?

It happens on every glass high rise I've seen constructed.

That building has even more impact than you would have imagined. It looks absolutely massive.
