One attitude that always seems to drag Halifax down is the idea that we should only spend enough to take care of the fundamental necessities with no frills. God help us if we spend more than necessary to make something nice as it will always be followed by a barrage of criticism about how wasteful it was.
Visiting other cities in Canada, the prevailing attitude always seems more positive, focusing on what can be done rather than what can't or shouldn't be done. I suspect that Halifax will eventually adopt this more positive outlook but I think it is a decade or two away from that at the moment - it is better than it used to be however.
But I digress, I don't expect you to change your opinion, nor do I intend to change mine. Thus, there is no point in continuing this debate. Happy Friday!
