Hmmm, no groundbreaking date was ever announced. *shrugs*, oh well.
Great News! Looks Good!

Hey, I don't need a bunch of suits standing at a podium to tell me when a groundbreaking is.

It's not a groundbreaking without Governor Ed Rendell, Mayor John Street, DA Lynne Abraham, and a few minor celebrities and sports stars.

Great job on this thread Swinefeld! My thought is that since they had to remove the budget rent a car first they probally could not have a proper groundbreaking.

I agree it does suck not having that special status - I was looking forward to reaching SuperTall status someday. The other thing that irks me about this new board is at the bottom of the page, there is nowhere for me to jump back to the original page, i have to choose from the forum jump menu to go to a specific thread or scroll back up to click on Skyscraperpage forum. If you have a lot of pics or posts on one page its rather annoying to not be able to get back to the original page in a quick manner.

anyways, can't wait to see this dig on the Murano....

I agree. But you might want to try just hitting backspace to go to the last page in your browser. I'm a big fan of keystrokes and try to use the mouse as little as possible.

to be fair, we have quasi "construction" photos over on the Marina View Towers thread from about 3 months ago...and that hasnt exactly taken off the ground yet either. here's hoping that this site work does in fact signal the start of proper construction and the tower will soon be following.

At least there has been some real excavation on the Murano already. At the Marina View site they pushed around some gravel and everyone got wet, rightly so...eff Marina View...

Geez, I was there around the same time, but at TJ's parking lot.

This one shows the steel beams really well.

Will there be any retail like on the ground floor of that parking garage, or will all the retail be in the ground floor of the building itself?

I ran by there today. Everything is lookin' gangsta. I don't remember if a new diagram has been done for Murano but whoever tackles it (ahem) please be sure not to omit the garage.

This new rendering makes it look tiny (width & height) in comparision to the Commerce twins.

Looking at the evening renderings it appears that this building won't have any lighting on the roof.
...I hope there is some sort of subtle lighting.
