Council needs to do something to address affordable housing before it becomes problematic and I think this is a good first effort. I guess time will tell how many developers will take advantage of the program.

Its exciting to hear that the parking garage portion of the Reily street project is probably only a couple months out from beginning.
I read that too but forgot to post about it. Definitely good news they're moving so quickly.

Tower crane for the new Harrisburg University tower was assembled this weekend! Some nice photos in the article, some which I posted below. I also took a few myself which I'll post in the next day or two.

Harrisburg Update
All photos taken by me on my phone on 04/18/2021.

State Archives Building
They are making steady progress on this one. (Didn't take any photos of the Federal Courthouse because there wasn't any visible progress made from last weekend.)

Harrisburg University Tower
I hadn't realized they were installing the tower crane this weekend until I got close and they had the road closed off and had all the pieces laying on the road. Very exciting!

View of tower crane from City Island.

This is so nice to see! And Harrisburg in the springtime is a really beautiful place.

Its what got me to move here. As a young lad I was driving down front street an early April afternoon in my convertible watching all the people out running and walking, sitting out eating Al Fresco....

Hoping there are new sidewalks/street trees installed at both sites when the projects wrap up. The street could use some sprucing up. Trees would help to keep speeds down.

Nice! Before moving to Philly I lived in Shipoke and spring/summer/fall was amazing.

I agree. Hopefully with all the other development happening nearby (ie. the Federal Courthouse, etc.) they realize this and do some streetscape improvements.

It's always especially exicting for me to see big cranes in smaller cities!

I agree. It doesn't happen very often around here, so I am pretty excited myself!

I saw this too. Pretty cool thing for Harrisburg, I'm glad they're bringing it back!

Photo taken by me on my phone today 04/21/2021. Not the best photo but shows how the new Federal Courthouse (on the left) really sticks out on the skyline from this view (taken in Summerdale, PA).

It really sticks out coming over the Harvey Taylor/Camp Hill Bypass. I like what it adds to the skyline. Really makes it look like downtown goes much farther north. I guess after they're done building everything on Reilly that could technically be a bit true.

I agree, it's definitely noticeable from many different views which is nice. I'm hoping some of the projects built on Reilly can be seen from the Harvey Taylor and will add to the skyline some.

Penn State Health celebrated a "groundbreaking" recently for it's planned Lancaster Pediatric Center. It's a unique project, in that it will repurpose the defunct Toys "R" Us along Harrisburg Pike (and across Route 30 from Park City Center). It will be the largest pediatric outpatient practice in Lancaster County when complete. Short video below with some renderings -

I'm glad to see they'll be able to reuse that building and it won't just stay abandoned!

Steady progress being made here.

Harrisburg University Tower
They had a new red crane onsite in addition to the tower crane that was erected. Not sure what it will be used for.
