St. Joseph's Catholic, Fergus. Here is an example of a church built in recent decades where they at least kind of tried to make it attractive, but still had to use modest materials so they were never going to make her an actual beauty. This also replaced the church below, which remains unused.

Up a hill around a bend and it hits you: Westover Baptist Church. I took a new route between Hamilton & KW this afternoon. Great country driving roads.

Found a few Calgary ones. Almost all of our houses of worship are post-war recreations of older structures that once stood there, so nothing too ornate here.

The architecture of the two shown on the last page in TO and WPG remind me of these in Markham. And one in TO at Yonge and 401.

The interior pics of St Nicholas Ukranian Catholic and (especially) St Stanislaus Kosta in Toronto made me suspicious, so I looked on-line and my suspicions were confirmed - both were originally built as Presbyterian churches.

Has anyone posted about that mega cathedral in Markham's aptly-named Cathedraltown? That building is a beast.

Ya I posted it several pages back. And someone added some more commentary to it. Interesting building and interesting story.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Calgary

Say what you will about those cooky mormons, they sure do know how to build a building though.

It's interesting how they share the same exact style across several of them in Canada. And that they have the golden statue of Angel Moroni (had to look that up). As a kid I remember being fascinated when they built the one in Brampton. Always looking up at the golden statue. Nice landscaping too.

Speaking of Mormons, there is a new LDS temple in Winnipeg... it's not quite as grand as the temples in Alberta (the Mormon population here is pretty small), but it's definitely a cut above most of the other houses of worship built around here in recent decades, which tend to look more like office park buildings.

By contrast, you look at this place and there's no mistaking it for a call centre... you know there is a whole lot of praying going on in here. There is definitely something to be said for traditionalism when it comes to church architecture.

I drive back and forth between Halifax & Charlottetown a lot due to school and noticed how many (mostly small) churches I drive by on the TCH once I get off the Confederation bridge until I reach the city.
I thought it'd be fun to post all of them since PEI is pretty underrepresented on here.

North Tryon Presbyterian Church

Tryon Baptist Church

St. John The Evangelist Anglican Church

Island Wesleyan Church

Bonshaw Hall (apparently is not actually a church but I certainly thought it was...)

This last one I was unable to find a name for. There is nothing on Google Maps.

And because I have nothing else to do while self-isolating here for the next two weeks, I made a map of all the ones listed above.

Love the red and white trim on that spire. Sometimes that's all it takes to make a church stand out. Just a splash of colour.

Yeah there are a couple out there built in different styles but this is fairly standard, though larger than most (outside of Utah).
