I use Kerkythea with some toning in Photoshop.

I've finally completed the second section. I added a map / "satellite image" on the first post.

Here's an aerial:

A diagram of the ten tallest buildings in Bourne (or the four that have been modeled).

I guess I always knew that you would be the first one to notice which city's layout I'm using.

Here's finally some kind of an update:
Looking south on Harrison Street. On the left is visible the tallest building in Bourne, the Wright Wellington Tower. More of that on the next update (which will probably take as long as this one).

i don't know why but the Wright Wellington Tower reminds me of one of the buildings that hasn't gone up yet in the Bradford regen plan.

I always wanted to ask this question. You used to use textures for rocane, and navaho springs, but do you use textures for bourne?

This city is coming along nicely, and I really like it. Keep it coming!

That last shot reminds me a bit of White Plains NY.

Hey Vellu, I just stumbled upon Rocane, and now I have found Bourne.
I am truly impressed with your work, and the skill you have with Sketchup.
Keep up the good work.

You should never use someones else's texture without their permission.(if you were going to use them)

When I finally would have had time for Bourne last summer, I found out that I wasn't motivated anymore. Modeling Bourne required a lot of effort and I wasn't satisfied with the results anymore, so Bourne's time-out was continued. I had been thinking about converting Bourne to use more photoreal textures but I was occupied with other projects.

Those other projects eventually ended and I thought what to do with my very limited free time next. I decided to give Bourne another shot, this time with textures made out of images from Bing Maps, Google Maps and Google Street view. I found out I had regained my inspiration for Bourne! This time around progress could be even slower, since I now have two children. To compensate slow progres I will also start to show WIP shots.

Here's the first sample of Bourne 2.0: the first re-textured building and also a try on a road texture.

Beautiful work, Vellu!! It's great to see you posting again! I know Sketchup cities have been hard to keep up with for everyone recently, so no worries if it becomes a chore to update after a while. It's always great to see updates to your cities.

Nice to see Bourne back, this forum seriously needed an injection of something to kickstart it again. I like what you're doing with the model, the road texturing seems to work a treat (very GTA IV, not a bad thing). I would maybe try an delineate between the road an sidewalk more, as it seems to merge a bit, maybe show a curb texture to represent that, a yellow line even.

Anyway I know how long it takes to do texturing so good job, nice to see someone texturing the flat roof's as well!

Oh yeah congrats on your 2 editions to the family!

I agree. I have to do something about it before I progress too far. Maybe I'll try to give the sidewalk texture a darker tone or something.

Re-texturing work continues...
