totally agree. Before east market opened there was no good outdoor eating space on this side of Broad nearby other than the usually crowded plaza for Jefferson at 10th and walnut. Even the east market plaza is very limited in terms of # of seats and on a nice day you have trouble finding a spot, not to mention its really not a park per se.

Does it look like they are pouring a pad for both towers?

It looks as if the rebar is laid down for the residential tower

Maybe it’s more cost-effective to lay the groundwork for the next project while the digging is being done, even if they don’t intend to do more than put a temporary park in place for now?

This seems very promising for pushing both buildings forward. I think it would be very unusual to move a project to this stage with the intent to then pause and wait. At least I hope that is not the case!

Whoa! That's 100% under construction!

While it seems like they're doing the office tower first, they're clearly installing foundations for the apartment building as well, which is usually just more cost effective to do while you're already in the ground.

We'll move the thread to "Under Construction" now, and will keep it as one thread and hope the apartment tower starts soon after or when the office tower is wrapping up, just like at Riverwalk.
