Ontario Restrictions will cause a reduction in flights.

Westjet has reduced YYC flights in May (From Daily to 1x Weekly)

Swoop has reduced YEG & YXX flights in May (Start of daily flights pushed back to mid-may)

Currently no change for YWG flights slated to start April 25, but I have a feeling they'll get axed.

Hamilton already has a far far larger terminal than Kitchener, it can already handle the loads it has pre-pandemic.

Still, if passenger loads kept increasing like they had pre pandemic, an expansion will probably be needed soonish.

Hamilton’s problem is that it’s too close to Buffalo, nobody is going to bother taking US flights out of Hamilton as they will just drive to Buffalo for flights 2/3 the price. And US flights are normally the bread and butter of the Canadian airline industry.

Instead you’ll likely see it continue to grow domestic, Caribbean, and even European bound flights, which are more feasible from the airport.

Pre-pandemic we did see a noticeable increase in USA service via Swoop and it seemed to be doing okay. The prices weren’t as competitive Buffalo, but some people want to avoid driving to Buffalo.

I heard Norwegian did well when they were at YHM and I definitely think we are able to maintain seasonal, perhaps year round service to parts of Europe.

Our terminal was able to handle the pre-pandemic flights, but when there are roughly 5 flights arriving/departing at the same time (the pre-pandemic AM rush), it gets relatively hectic and congested. None the less, the airport is making it work with what they got (ie. expanding security, changing seating configuration, adding food options, etc).

With Jet Blue announcing cross border service to Vancouver, won't be long for them to expand , and would be great prospect to have Hamilton as feeder into their hub.

I would love to see JetBlue come into YHM from JFK and BOS.

It's nice to see them slowly bringing back frequencies. Hopefully they will be able to get back to pre pandemic levels including launching some planned services such as Charlottetown.

I can’t wait for them to relaunch US service - though I understand that’s going to have to wait a bit longer. Hopefully by fall we can get Las Vegas and some Florida service back at the least.

Yes, please! When this pandemic is finally over I fully intend to go to Las Vegas to finally have some enjoyment and freedom. I haven't touched my American savings account in two years so I have plenty of vacation money, haha.

On the Zoom call to the cities Airport Committee on April 15, Charles Duncan, CEO of Swoop, said that the winter schedule should start in October. He stated the winter schedule should be out in 6 to 8 weeks. He also stated that they want their international to be big, as they want to stop people from going to Buffalo.

Are these schedules beyond June 4th? WS hasn't modified its schedule for June yet, so what's there is basically the pre-COVID one.

The June update should come either this weekend or next.

They usually add or subtract flights based on booking. This maybe a very good sign.

CMON MAN boy could I use a nice flight out of YHM to Vegas. My only request is that when these flights are resumed could we get the return flight landing back in the Hammer around midnight or so rather than that red eye.

But i will take what I can get.

Those fatigue rules have a valid reasoning, but the elephant living just to the south often provides good leverage points for companies that operate in both countries.

Re: development around the airport, yesterday I noticed a new build warehouse/distribution centre south of Rymal not far from Hwy 6 (I think it was near Shaver, or it may have been Fiddlers Green). And signs for the 403/6 Industrial Park closer to Southcote.
