After the snow, man they’re killin’ it… another floor pour today. That’s 1. pour a floor, 2. form up and pour the walls and super-columns, then 3. form up and pour another floor ... in under 2 weeks.

Benito

Benito

Of course the (gold-hued?) super-column and hanger cladding comes with a protective layer so we can’t check out the final colour chosen... grrrrr :-(

Just a word of thanks to Maldive for collecting so many photos and renders into one easy to access location. Also, many thanks to Koops for his creative work on the renders and videos. Appreciate it!

Edit: sorry, I put this into the wrong thread. I meant it to go into the Toronto compilation thread.

Some great interior shots from a recent UrbanToronto tour. First one shows the scale of the (vertical) column-free “fruit” store retail space.

Exterior of retail.

The 40 foot sheets of structural glass are fully self-supporting…. so all they had to do is attach them to the building with brackets.

UT

Corner hangers from the inside.

UT

Steel supporting the “event space” slab above.

Cut-out in the ground floor slab for a staircase and elevator.

Angry

I heard that the city rejected the height increase due to shadowing concerns and the 94 floor super tall status is no longer accurate.

Can anyone confirm?

Yes, it was rejected by the city, but it now goes to the OLT? I'm not sure what it's called now. There is still a chance...

I dislike the name. "The One" sounds so pretentious, while lacking any grace.

New York has "The Empire State Building", which sounds grand but with elegance. "The One"? This will hardly go down as an iconic building name.

I'd prefer it if they called it the "6.02 x 10^23" or something interesting.

Even "The Two" is better.

Damn near perfect work with the diagrid and mega-column aluminium cladding. Applause.

Close-up sees a hint of ‘champagne’ colour (while wider shots look much lighter).

Thanks for those great shots - watching this build is starting to be really enjoyable.

Question: How is the aluminum cladding affixed to the concrete? Just wondering.
