Some status update pics of the Lancaster Mall redevelopment. Work is currently going on for the new-to-market fitness tenant (sources indicate it's Planet Fitness).

On my jaunt up Union Street today I noticed that signage is being installed for a Telus/Koodo store at the former Port City Training and Fitness spot near Union and Waterloo.

Could we finally be seeing Union's transformation into the gentrified high street we always knew it could be??!

Coles in Brunswick Square will be closing July 3rd.

Part retail market, part B Square. Probably 60/40 in this instance. Surprised it has lasted as long as it has.

That's really interesting. Mobile phone stores aren't exactly a harbinger of gentrification but opening new locations is always intriguing.

I'm sad to hear this, I spent many hours browsing there when I worked uptown, back when Starbucks was still next door. It's crazy how fast Brunswick Square has basically become a ghost town.

What's to be done with it? No public spaces or community facilities like Market Square. Should it come down? It's one of the ugliest buildings in the city, and there's no shortage of nearby office, retail, and restaurant space for the current tenants.

Maybe convert the third floor to something else and try to revitalize the main and 2nd floors only.

My dream would be demolition and replacement with a proper streetscape, heritage style podium with 4-6 distinct facades, with a set back tower or two. Maintain pedway connection. Relocate Delta to a new build on Fundy Quay, the Lawton's to 99 King, and distribute the various office and retail presence throughout uptown.

Will never happen, but would love to see a casino in there. Perfect location - already has a hotel, restaurant space, convention center space etc.

I don’t know what the owners have planned, but it seemed from the get go retail wasn’t exactly their priority.

The casino dream will never die it seems. We can likely do better.

Just Cozy is back. It's located at the former My City Life spot inside McAllister Place (next to Charm Diamond Centre). First location in NB to reopen.

From the Retail Talk and Share New Brunswick Facebook group.

I kind of figured this a while ago....no more need for the Park Plaza Motel either with the Hampton Inn & Best Western nearby.

(Apologies for picture size....can mods fix please? @.@)

Pretty wild that the store manager makes $1.50 an hour more than their staff.

A new tenant is opening soon at East Point Shopping Centre (inside the former Celebrate spot). It will soon be home to Fredericton-based, My Consignment. They will sell clothing, furniture and decor.

A few days ago, I saw a pic of the new A&W in the West Side that had it's signs on the building.

Does anyone know when that new restaurant will open it's doors?

Fredericton-based Frolic Confectionery, (that recently opened at Regent Mall), is also opening a location at McAllister Place.
They will be replacing the recently closed T.Kettle. Job listings now are online.

According to online chatter, Hart will be coming to Saint John. Apparently they will be opening at Parkway Mall and the store manager is currently in training.
