The major roadways serving the city also provide billboard possibilities. Billboards on I-27 or US 84 would generate high traffic exposure of your business.

So dumb that the buildings next to Austin's main public transit station are like 3-5 stories and vacant lots. This place should be on fire for development. 4th Street should look like Rainey with those 40 story skyscrapers being built.

This site sits under a Capitol View Corridor. Sure does beat what was there before, but yea would have been nice to have 5X the homes with 100% less parking

There's a big For Sale sign dropped at the corner of Red River and what used to be 4th St. Can't imagine it'll sit there for too long.

It's really crappy that the City has stopped adding project info to site plans going through the approval process. But I think the Rainey Tower (by Lincoln Ventures & next to 70 Rainey) is going to be significant.

I happened to be checking the Rainey Tower site plan (among others) for updates earlier this week, and refreshed it at just the right time to see about 15 attachments added with descriptions in the file names that implied a major project. When I started clicking on the links, I got a file was moved message. I refreshed the site plan again, but the file links disappeared. An obvious 15 second faux pas on the City's behalf. But they got away with it.

EDIT: Here's one of the dead links that was briefly attached to the site plan:

The CVC coverage is minimal, so something significant could be built there.

I seem to remember that plot at one point belonged to Manchester, the Fairmont developer… they had a plan for another hotel, or a mixed use tower with hotel component. Something like that. I guess that plan has gone the way of the dodo, though.

Considering what’s happening to the CC though, it’s a pretty great spot for something along those lines. If you could buy ‘n’ relocate the historic buildings there along 3rd St., you could assemble almost a full city block.

Ok, I'm curious, what's the name of the tower being built in west campus area? It really shows up in the skyline driving on Mopac going north. As you're going down Rio Grande that thing is just stupid tall. 300+ footer. I do rideshare so I am in downtown all the time but try to avoid UT lol.

At first I thought you meant the alexan, the one on 11th since they both have Waterloo in the name.
The Waterloo is REALLY prominent in the skyline from a ways off now, it shocked me. It's massive!

5th and Lavaca I could see being a budget conscious hotel, 250 keys, 350’. I wouldn’t expect much more out of that location, or even much in the way of ground floor street level interaction besides a bar in the lobby given the small footprint.

I also won’t hold my breath anything close to the rendering for 6th and West gets built. The new buyers will start with new and different designs which will themselves end up being value engineered and totally different from this gorgeous gorgeous proposal.

500 West Oakland is also for sale. That’s just outside of downtown on W. 5th. That could end up being a 4 or 5 story condo or apartment development with ground floor retail if redeveloped. They’re marketing it as either a potential redevelopment opportunity or owner-occupied space, so who knows.

I would like almost everything on 5th street between Lamar and Guadalupe to be torn down and redone

If we can start with all 4 corners at 5th and Pine that would be great

Congress?

The MexicArte museum would have been beautiful, but I disagree with the grander point. This corridor has some beautiful historical character that should be preserved to some extent and already has some newer things that aren’t getting torn down any time soon. But the Post Office site man?! Can we wait any longer?!

I take it that the towers for the 6th & West concept are maxed out height wise by the CVC?

There are no CVCs getting in the way of them being taller.

So are they selling TWO parcels on either side of West? I’m confused by the pic.

It would appear so. I do remember both sites being on the chopping block for future development. I don't recall where I saw the two separate newsworthy items regarding the redevelopment of each of those sites though. The lots just east of there are also marked for future development. So WTF Icehouse is also living on borrowed time.
